Playable from level 1 - 40 ..PvM Build
(Although a bit difficult to play from lvl 1 - 10)

Shifter/defender

druid 5/shifter 17/defender 18

This build is mostly looking at being the best all around tank. Items or not, you have a +6 weapon, 20/+5 soak, improved evasion later short of being tweaked by PWs.

pre-epic
druid 5/shifter 7/defender 8
stats
dwarf
str 8
dex 13
con 18 +3 from lvls
wis 16 +2 from lvls
int 13
cha 6

feats: alertness, toughness, dodge, knockdown, improved knockdown, blind fighting, focus unarmed.

epic:
21: defender 9, epic damage reduction 1 (6/-)
22: shifter 8
23: shifter 9
24: +1 wisdom, shifter 10, undead shape (wis 19)
25: defender 10 (9/-)
26: shifter 11
27: shifter 12, great wisdom (wis 20)
28: shifter 13, great wisdom, +1 wisdom (wis 22)
29: shifter 14
30: shifter 15, great wisdom (wis 23)
31: defender 11
32: defender 12, +1 wisdom (wis 24)
33: defender 13, great wisdom (wis 25)
34: shifter 16, outsider shape
35: defender 14, epic damage reduc 2 (15/-)
36: defender 15, great wisdom, +1 wisdom (wis 27)
37: defender 16
38: defender 17
39: shifter 17, construct shape
40: defender 18, epic damage reduc 3, +1 con, (21/-)

Advantages: Extreme damage resistance. Best all around tank, short of super items, no one person could gain what a shifter has.

Weakness: Slow lvling in shifter, caps out at construct form (though this isn't a bad thing sometimes).

edit:
skills: discipline maxed, tumble (cross) maxed, heal maxed, concentration maxed, rest of the points in hide if you want.

Can someone please find a way to have Dragon Form AND Epic Damage Reduction III with 18 levels of Dwarven Defender?

Thanks,

You didn't say it had to be pretty and you didn't say it had to have Shifter!

*edit* You could probably shift a few of the levels around. This is just a quick throw-together.

*EDIT: I see Cinnabar beat me to the reply *

There is not much room to adjust feats with this build.

You need three more points in Wisdom and an extra feat for Dragon Shape.

If you drop Intelligence to 10 you can start your Wisdom at 17. You will have to give up the Improved Knockdown feat (for Improved Critical: Unarmed perhaps?).

Then you will hve to give up all three other shapes (Undead, Outsider, and Construct) to get two Great Wisdom and Dragon Shape.

IMHO you are giving up too much. You end up with only 1 epic shape and the same damage reduction as before.

isnt the dd dmg reduction calculated as soak by the engine ?

so it wont stack with the dragonshape soak of +6/40 ...

and on pms where you can get +6weapons or more ..well high magic worlds shifters loose a lot and are most likey not worth it o_O AFAIK, same damage reduction type stacks if the enhancement is different, I mean:

5/+1 stacks with 10/+2 and with 15/+3 [...] and with 40/+6 and with 20/-

I can be wrong, but I have read it in many places.
