SPELLSLINGER
Ok this is a very intresting char to play, and its actually very very powerful, however you may think its a bit silly, so I wrote a little story for how I RP it. If you dont want to read it skip.



Demon hordes summoned though a Planer portal, created by a mad wizard, threatend to compltely engulf the world of Denakar, the demon hides turned away the sharpest blade, and they resisted the strongest magics, There claws and talons tore though thickest armor as if it was but air and the blood of mortals flowed upon the sands as the demons feasted. Army after army was crushed and the greatest warriors and wizards gave there lives for naught, it was thought all hope was lost.
Yet General Katrina High Cleric in command of the last desperate offensive agasint the demonic invaders, had a Dream Vision. In it her, god appeared before her and gifted to her a simple sling and Tower shield.

With a gentle voice her god spoke
"Smite down the beasts of the abyss with the simplest of all weapons, stand as cliffs agasint the tide and turn it back"
Where she cried back in despair!, "There Skin turns the most powerful of blades, the sharpest of arrows, and the most fierce and powerful of magics, their claws tear all asunder, how can a simple sling and shield hope to harm and defend from creatures such as these!"

He replied as the dream and sleep faded and blured into reality "Call upon me, and I shall grant my power to each pebble, so it stings not like a bee, but hits as wild and untamed as thunder, burning hotter then the stars. Fear not the demons claws, for a simple shield backed by hope will turn back shadows claw and fang As the morning sun turns back the darkness of night"




Ok, its important to note almost ALL the damage done by the spellslinger is magical/divine in nature, however dont think this means it doesnt do much damage. You will be amazed Also this works with a bow, but you cant use a shield with a bow, you can with a sling. This is important because the SpellSlinger can melee it with the sling and survive quite easily, this makes it great both single player, and for mutiplayer servers where archers/spell casters are targest if they attack.

Class break down
you need a total of 35 levels of cleric, and 4 levels of a class that has the fighter base attack table, 4 of these levels has to be before epic(in the first 20 levels). I suggest at least 1 paladin level so you get bonus from cha to saves. I personly go with 4 fighter for weapon spec sling and 1 paladin.(however 4 paladin levels and 1 monk for tumble skill will give you an extra 4ac and let you evade spells/traps)

As you can see FAR more base damage then any other class, even counting 2 handed weapons + max STR. Over half of it also cant be ignored/resisted by spells/skills.
Also nice AC, and best of all this has access to all clerical, which doubles its value in mutiplayer games as it can attack from a distance and still move in and heal,res players during the heat of combat.

pretty interrested in your build here. like the idea of a sling. i know it has been a while since you posted this build, but i just came across it.

i have a question for you.. could you subsitute 2 lvls fo BG for one lvl of ftr and the lvl of palidin? if i am not mistaken, you would still get the chra bonus to saves and you would also get another bulls str spell, which i beleive stacks with teh cleric spell.
just though i would ask you. Any chance you could post a step by step chart of what you did?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Divine Power no longer gives you an extra attack if you already have 4 attacks. Slim, this build was built last spring when the bug was still in effect. I doubt the author even checks in here anymore to update.

If everyone is thinking alike, then someone is failing to think. Oh, that's what I get for replying to a post at 1 AM. Sorry about that. I guess I wasn't thinking when I wrote that. (happens a lot these days...)

Anyway, sorry to point out the fault in the way I did .

It's still true, though. Divine Power was fixed in some patch (1.64, 1.63 or some other quite recent patch).

So don't go wondering if you don't get that 5th attack after all =). This build looks totally awesome and I play clerics anyway. I've started this build on two different servers. So far it's very fun.
