He is a very good mage and a pretty good light fighter and thief. The concept for this caracter started out as an archer-mage, primarily a mage that used archer as a sort of inexpensive spell and who could mount a passable melee defense. It sort of acquired decent open-lock (35) and Disable-trap (35) skills along the way.
