Everyone always mentions the Monk with a high SR as a problem for casters but I don't think I've seen a detailed post for one. This build has an SR that's 4 points lower than the max. but in return picks up UMD for spellcasting a 40 spellcraft for save bonuses and HiPS. A pure level 40 caster will be able to lower the SR with Mordenkainen's Disjunction and have a good chance to bypass his SR with spells, a mixed caster probably will not be able to do anything against his SR, and saves.
Advantages
-43 Use Magic Device. He can use scrolls to cast spells. -66 Spell Resistance. He will still have trouble with pure casters, but multiclassed mages shouldn't be able to touch him. -Improved Evasion. Throwing in the spellcraft bonus, he has a foritude save of 31, a reflex save of 40 and a will save of 33. If a spell does get by his spell resistance he still has a good chance to avoid damage. -43 Taunt. On a sucessful taunt he can induce a 30% spell failure in an enemy caster. -Hide in Plain Sight. He can get the drop on any caster that doesn't have true sight in effect (or has had true sight dispelled) and can vanish again. -Monk immunities. These include immunity to mind spells, 20/+1 damage reduction and immunity to disease and poison. -Empty Body.
Disadvantages
-Low Hitpoints -Low AB.
Mage Bane
Race: Elf (Subrace: Drow)
Alignment: Any Lawful
Base Attributes STR 12 DEX 18 CON 10 WIS 14 INT 14 CHA 8
Hit Points 361 (Max. every level) _________________ Two wrongs don't make a right but three lefts do.

on level 39 (SD) you cant take Imp Spell Resist.
Other than that great build loved it _________________ Wheel of Time - A New Weaving Co - Founder Former - Admin, DM , Builder, Player

Why? Its a general feat and the character meets the pre-reqs. WIKI: Improved spell resistance Type of Feat: (Epic) General Prerequisite: Epic Character, Diamond Soul Specifics: The character gains a +2 to Spell Resistance. This feat may be taken multiple times, to a maximum of +20. Use: Automatic
I believe it can only be taken on Monk levels. However, as I don't play Monks, I could be wrong on that. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
Yeah I just built this with the CBC and you can't take it at 39, BUT all you have to do is switch: Level 21: Epic Weapon Focus (Unarmed Strike) and Level 39: Improved Spell Resistance IX and your good to go.
Other than that minor detail this is a nice build.

Actually, Mord's won't lower a monk's SR. So he's pretty much immue, even to pure casters.
As for fitting in the Imp SR at level 39, just take the SD level at 38, and a monk level at 39.

Yeah, thats a better idea than what I suggested earlier.

A monk / SD dex based and no room for ED...

That's a rare mistake for you TM. _________________ Some Forum Members believe respect is a right and should be freely given. Myself: I work on a point-buy system, and today my friend you're all out of credit...

I believe TM is right, mords/breach does not lower natural SR bonus.
TM is correct. Monk innate SR cannot be lowered. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
Not even Nature's Balance lowers it as far as I know, and it's the strongest SR lowering spell. _________________

Is it just on Bow that it works mantis? _________________ PocketBeetle: Well on the way to earning a PHD in "Applied Idiocy"

I don't even know if it works on BoW... of course, there's very few pure monks running around to test it on.

Definitely works there - used to do it all the time to spam lvl 30 pure monks with an effy mage.
I have to assume they modded it. Teaches me for playing on only one server for too long I guess.
Edit: Checked the wiki, theres an entry under Mords spell, but no comment on the Diamond soul feat page. _________________

Mords isn't the only SR lowering spell. There should be a notice on Diamond Soul though, and there is none. _________________ "My name is Thaxll'ssyllia, but you simians may refer to me merely as "Sir", if you prefer a less... syllable intensive workout."
