Howdy all!

This is a build I would call the Risen Defender.

Its a shifter build (yes ANOTHER one) focused on
seeing how far you can take a risen lord.

At level 40 he ends up with:

5 druid
13 shifter
22 dwarven defender

with 25 str, 13 dex, 21 con, int wis ch at dwarf
start values.

Did it this way
Dr = druid , Sh = shifter, DD = dwarven defender

1. Dr start with 18 str, 13 dex, 16 con and Alertness
2. Dr
3. Dr Power attack
4. Dr +1 str for 19 str
5. Dr
6. Sh Cleave
7. Sh
8. Sh +1 str for 20 str
9. Sh Dodge
10. Sh
11. Sh
12. Sh +1 str for 21 str Toughness
13. DD
14. DD
15. DD Great Cleave
16. DD +1 str for 22 str
17. DD
18. DD Weapon Prof(exotic)
19. DD
20. DD +1 str for 23 str (BAB 16 here, 4 attacks)
21. Sh Weapon Focus(scythe)
22. Sh
23. Sh
24. Sh +1 con for 17 con Improved Critical(scythe)
25. Sh
26. Sh Undead Shape(using bonus feat, risen lord now)
27. DD Epic Weapon Focus(scythe)
28. DD +1 con for 18 con
29. DD
30. DD Great con I for 19 con
31. DD
32. DD +1 Con for 20 con Overwhelming Crit(scythe)
33. DD Great con II for 21 con
34. DD
35. DD
36. DD +1 str for 24 str Epic damage reduction I and II
37. DD
38. DD
39. DD Epic damage reduction III
40. +1 str for 25 str Devastating crit(scythe)

Well there you have it, my idea of a risen lord
with super DR and super crits.

Comments?

I have a build thats a lot like that (never posted it though). Just wondering does the str actually matter? or does it get set once u shapeshift. If the later then you're better off putting the stats in wiz and getting outsider shape. That way you can deal with mages too when u see them. As a rakshasa with 24/- dr or so you can shrug off melee attacks while you pound the mage.

Alternatly you can put the stat points in dex since I don't think risen lord affects that and that way u get a few ac more. The high str is to get dev crit only since yes
risen lord has 21 str regardless. The idea here
was to maximize DR while having high damage output.

This build was more of puzzle to solve than a build
I would use myself. The version of this build I use
on a PW right now, has gone the dex route as you
mentioned, with just enough str for great cleave
and no more. But some people are truly crazy about
dev crit and won't consider a build without it, so
I wanted to see if epic damage reduction 3 and
dev crit can both be achieved in risen lord, and they
can.

More of a "can it be done?" thing.

Well if you want to be a undead scythe wielding
dev criting super tank this will do it. Since you
don't get dev crit till 40 though this build on
a server vault PW would take enormous patience.

But you do end up with 39 DR naked at the end
even without items and are immune to almost everything
you can be immune to. I think if you started off with 18 con/16 str it would open up 2 additional stat points you can stick in something else. Something i've noticed with the risen lord that i havnt seen mentioned on the question of "i don't think the risen lord affects you dex" is that it actually applies a -2 modifier to it :s

Just something i noticed...

Let me guess. You tried this as an elf or halfling and subsequently lost your racial +2 dex in the shifted form. I cant speak for him. Come to think of it. He probably cant speak for him either. That post was made over 3 years ago. And the odds are good that it wasn't tried as an Elf or Halfling since this is a Dwarven Defender build.

I believe the comment made 3 years ago was referring to the Risen Lord shape itself, not just this build. All things considered though, people should watch when the last post was dated before making comments like that. Its okay to correct information if need be, but the way the post was made made it sound like this was a newer thread still being posted on.

The purpose of the comment was not to leave the thread on a post with incorrect information. Risen Lord does not reduce the dex by two, but rather keeps it the same. Only elf and halfing appear reduced by two because the racial +2 is negated. The fact that the build the post is attached to is neither elf nor halfing, but rather dwarf, means the post had no relevance to the build, but instead made an incorrect conjecture about the shape risen lord.
