...Playable from level 1 - 40 ..PvM Build

Well, this is my first try at a complete epic build post, Im not sure if its been done before, since there are some 400+ char builds to view here.

I will start off with listing a few things I considered when making this char:

I dont like cross classing skills unless absolutely necessary.

I like a char that is consistiently strong and fun to play from level 1 up to level 40.

Some of the skill choices may seem odd, but I primarily play on a server with modified true seeing script that dosen't automaticly detect hidden critters/players.

This char is a triple Weapon master who has maxed spot, listen, tumble, UMD, heal and discipline (almost).

Here is the build:

Human
Starting stats; Str 17, Dex 13, Con 14, Wis 8, Int 14, Cha 8

Lv 1 = Ftr, dodge, mobility, wpn prof exotic
Lv 2 = Ftr, expertise
Lv 3 = Ftr, Wpn focus scythe
Lv 4 = Str +1, spring attack
Lv 5 = Ftr
Lv 6 = Wpn Spec Scythe, WW attack
Lv 7 = Rogue, intimidate +4
Lv 8 = WM, Str +1, WoC scythe (free)
Lv 9 = WM, Imp crit scythe
Lv 10 = WM
Lv 11 = WM
Lv 12 = rogue, str +1, evasion, power attack
Lv 13 = WM, increased multiplier, superior wpn focus
Lv 14 = WM
Lv 15 = WM, Ki Critical, Cleave
Lv 16 = WM, str +1
Lv 17 = Rogue
Lv 18 = Rogue, great cleave
Lv 19 = WM
Lv 20 = WM, str +1
Lv 21 = WM, wpn focus scimitar
Lv 22 = rogue
Lv 23 = WM
Lv 24 = WM, str +1, WoC scimitar, imp crit scimitar
Lv 25 = WM
Lv 26 = WM
Lv 27 = rogue, overwhelming crit scimitar
Lv 28 = WM, epic prowess
Lv 29 = WM
Lv 30 = WM, weapon focus heavy flail
Lv 31 = Wm, Weapon of choice heavy flail
Lv 32 = Rogue
Lv 33 = WM, dev crit scimitar
Lv 34 = WM, epic weapon focus scimitar
Lv 35 = WM
Lv 36 = WM, Knockdown
Lv 37 = Rogue
Lv 38 = WM
Lv 39 = WM, improved knockdown, ewf heavy flail
Lv 40 = Rogue, Str +1

Skills: Tumble and UMD are only taken on rogue levels, at each rogue level they are maxed out to 10. Discipline only reaches 42, due to the final rogue level at lv 40, however I thought that 5d6 sneak was more important than discipline 43. On the WM and rogue levels I max out spot, listen and heal. Discipline is increased only on WM and Ftr levels.

I know that im loosing a point of BAB, due to the pre epic rogue levels, however, I want to make the most of a high reflex save early on, which means evasion which I get at level 12.

The reasons for the weapons of choice featured are as follows:

Scythe, for effective dev crit pre epic.
Scimitar, for dev crit with a good crit range.
Heavy Flail, for dealing with pesky undead with their partial immunity to piercing and slashing attacks.

Unbuffed at level 40:

Final Stats; Str 27, Dex 13, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 8
BAB 29
Attack schedule with scim or flail; 47/42/37/32
Naked AC 19
Max hitpoints = 444 at level 40

AC using +5 items (sunsoul boots +5, full plate +5, amulet of nat armour +5, Cloak of fortification +5: with Shield = 55, without shield = 47

The feat selection post level 30ish is easily addapted, maybe some great str feats perhaps, or great constitution feats.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Why not rogue at level one for more skillpoints? Aye, thats a good point about the skill points at level 1, although I find that during the first 3 levels or so I always seem to roll maximum hitpoints first time, so I went with these instead.

I guess that either approach is equally valid as a starting point though. Surely you only need to max one of Spot or Listen? I play on a server where these skills are very important too, and most players choose one to max, sometimes putting 5 points in the other for the synergy bonus.

If you could drop either Spot or Listen, you could drop Strength to 16 (it finishes on 27 anyway, that last point isn't doing much for you) and Int to 13, allowing you to boost Con to 16 for an extra hit point per level. Well, dropping int to 13 looses 40 skill points and dropping str by 1 means that bulls strength can only get my str up to 31 (assuming I find/have a potion) wheras at 27 str can reach 32.

Also the higher str allows slightly earlier qualification for overwhelming crit and dev crit.

*edit* on review it looks like I forgot to post some of the stat increases (all go into Str) on the original post.

I would consider dropping exotic weapons and instead of scythe, scimitar, and heavy flail, taking great axe, rapier, and heavy flail. This way, you always have a type of damage available. Great axe is slashing only, while scythe is slashing and piercing. Scimitar is slashing only, while rapier is piercing only. Unfortunately, if you have a weapon that does two types of physical damage, either of the two damage reductions will counteract it.

I think many PW's have it set so you get max hit points on levels 1 through 3.

Great build concept. But can you explain more on your reasoning for Scythe?
Quote:  Scythe, for effective dev crit pre epic.
Scimitar, for dev crit with a good crit range.

Well, you can't get Dev Crit pre-epic, so I suppose that was a typo by you, and that you meant 'effective critical hits'? What is it about the scythe that makes it a better choice for "effective dev crit" over the scimitar with it's extended crit range? I know the scythe has the great crit multiplier, but I don't see how it makes for more effective dev critting. I would think scimitar makes for more effective dev critting. On a PW where Dev Crit is disabled the scythe's damage output would definitely be more attractive. Also by dropping scythe you wouldn't need to take Exotic Weap Proficiency so early. Perhaps you could take it later in the build, just to keep up the adaptability of the build.

I like Yar's advise on choosing weapons to produce a specific type of weapon-damage.

All in all, I really like the build. Thanks for posting it.

Well, by the phrase "effective dev crit pre epic" I meant that below level 20, if you crit with a scythe, doing 5 times damage...you are highly likely to kill your victim, thats all.
