A Quite (devastating) Critical Dragon (Druid 29/Bard 1/ RDD 10)

This is a dragon build I made with the ultimate goal of devastating critical and two epic spells. This build can be played through levels 1-40, PvP it is actually quite versatile. I played it for a while and used elemental shape and wild shape but it obviously gets a lot easier after devastating critical (24) and dragon shape (36).

Half-Orc

Starting/Ending stats
STR: 19/27
DEX: 8/8
CON: 9/11
WIS: 18/32
INT: 6/8
CHA: 6/8

Skill Points:
Spellcraft every level (43)
Lore first 5 levels (8)
4 perform, if you want to have your 1x a day bard song to give you +1 to damage and attack rolls.
After that you can choose really any skills and it won’t affect the overall build that much.

Ability Points: Max out wisdom on all levels.

Character Progression:
1-4: Druid
5: Bard
6-15: RDD
16+ Druid

Feats:
1:Power Attack
3:Cleave
6:Improved Unarmed Strike
9:Great Cleave
12:Improved Critical, Unarmed Strike
15:Weapon Focus, Unarmed Strike
18:Knockdown
21:Overwhelming Critical, Unarmed Strike
24:Devastating Critical, Unarmed Strike
27:Great Wisdom I
30:Great Wisdom II
33:Epic Spell, Dragon Knight*
35:Great Wisdom III
36:Dragon Shape
39:Epic Spell: Hellball

Epic Spell, Dragon Knight: This does not have to be used but I just love the fact of two (powerful) dragons charging in. The summoned dragon works well as a shield to attract the attention of spells, etc.

Stats for human form
AB: 37/32/27
AC: 15
HP: 244
Fortitude: 23
Reflex: 17
Will: 36
Attack: 1-3+9(critical 19-20x2)

All this changes when transformed into dragon though…

Dragon Stats:

STR: 48
DEX: 36
CON: 32
WIS: 32
INT: 8
CHA: 8

AC: 49
AB: 43/38/33
HP: 784
Fortitude: 34
Reflex: 31
Will: 36

Attack 1: 2-12+19(critical 19-20x2)
Attack 2: 2-12+19(critical 19-20x2)
Attack 3: 2-16+19(critical 19-20x2)

Disadvantages:
 Low AB
 Less attacks than monk based dragons, no flurry of blows
 Low critical threat range
 Low AC for a dragon

Advantages:
 Two epic spells
 Powerful druid spells
 Deadly devastating critical hit (DC=49!)
 Powerful animal companion, I choose hawk for its disarm feat
 Dragon gets true seeing
 Dragon gets natural damage reduction (does anyone know how much?)
 Immunities to mind spells, sneak attacks and paralysis

If you have any improvements it would be great to hear.

Oh, and by the way, incase you didn’t notice from the ten levels on RDD, the dragon shape and dragon knight spell; I like dragons!

Dragons get 40/+6 damage reduction

-DaMouse That last level of druid doesn't really give you anything. An additional level of bard at the very end would let you max tumble for +8 AC. If I've counted correctly, you get 92 skill points in total (which is impressively low by the way, ), which would be enough for 41 ranks in spellcraft (going to 43 is unnecessary with only 8 INT), 8 lore, 40 tumble, and have a whopping 3 extra points to spend wherever your heart desires. You wouldn't have enough to sink into perform of course, but I think the +8 AC is more useful anyway.

Steve Thanks for the input! I originally thought of Bard at last level but then left it out because i forgot about tumble! Also, that is a lot of damage reduction, has anyone ever made a build of dragon/dwarven defender and got damage reduction III...? Yes, check out the Dragon Savant, there are also several others in the indexed build list.

I was always under the impression that dragons couldnot get devcrit... Why 27 strength?
I would drop starting strengh to 17, freeing up 5 points that can be spent on constitution for more hitpoints in human form or int for more skill points. You still have 25 str well before you can take overwhelming and devastating critical and you will probably change into dragon form before doing any melee fighting anyway. 40 spellcraft is all you ever need..

Unlike the AC bonus from tumble, the saving throw bonus from spellcraft uses the modified value. 41 spellcraft will effectively be 40 with intelligence modifier -1, which is a nice multiple of five. oooh.. so spellcraft goes higher so 45 = +9? I never knew that one..

Or even higher. A wizard can get spellcraft in the 55 range, and that's without skill focuses or anything. That's +11 right there.

Steve A Bard can get it even higher. With Courteous Magocracy,Skill Focus: Spellcraft, Epic Skill Focus: Spellcraft, 16 Intelligence and a 25th level BardSong, his Spellcraft can hit 75. =+15 to Saves against Magic

Yep. Check out my Skillful Minstrel build. With his level 22 Bard Song active, he gets 61 in Spellcraft - good for +12 to saves vs spells.

It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!! Erm...

I made a not entirely dissimilar build a few months ago, similarily with the target of dev crit in dragon shape. Unless something has changed recently dev crit unarmed strike doesn't carry over into shifted forms, since these forms actually use a creature weapon, so you would require the feat "devasting critical creature weapon", which is possible with the PRC, but not in NWN. eeehh.. yeah .. Same as i posted a while up

PLease tell me a dragon can ge devcrit what a tower of power it will be then Well, I think that you can make a dev critting dragon with the prc, there are a couple of builds on the forum that do that. Or you could modify the shifter scripts that you have running.
