Playable from level 1 - 40 ..PvM Build

Harper Protector

In the service to - and champion of - his deity, the Harper Protector is also a member of the secret Harper society. As such he enjoys the benefits of more than one god, but is sworn to root out evil and further the cause of good and virtue. Trained in the arts of combat, yet with the ability to wield divine magics, the Harper Protector can be a lethal force in combat. Those of evil intent who oppose him should beware.

Saves (with CoT bonus)[vs Spells]:

Fort: 23 (27)[34]
Refl: 18 (22)[29]
Will: 28 (32)[39]

+2 vs traps (Deneir's Eye)
+2 vs mind affecting (Lliira's Heart)
+2 bonus to all saves 1/day for 5 turns (Tymora's Smile)

AC with mundane plate and tower shield: 29
He can raise this by 10 with Magic Vestment on armor and shield as well as an extra boost from Divine Shield (which can be augmented with Eagle's Splendor and stacked with the HS Eagle's) for easily another +5 to +9. Add another +1 from casting Cat's Grace.

Unbuffed AB: +36 (with weapon of choice).
Fully buffed, he should be able to reach the +20 cap (or within a point or two). He should also be able to easily add 4 to 6 to his STR (empowered Bull's) for another +3 to hit. With gear, his AB can get into the low 60s, no problem.

Damage: too many variables for me to figure out, but consider the following: Darkfire (1d6+10), boosted STR (minimum +9), Divine Might (+3 to +9 minimum), Divine Favor (+5), Battletide (+2), Greater Magic Weapon (+5), various other spells.

He has tons of spells to back him up as well, but his DC is not great, so he should be relying on spells for buffs/extra damage and perhaps a couple to soften up the targets before engaging in close quarters.

Saves are good and are nicely enhanced by the HS extras. As well, they'll all be boosted from the various ability buffs.

As with most builds, pure casters are going to be a concern, as they'll be able to debuff him.

One note: You'll have to focus in a simple weapon in order to access the CoT prestige class, which is somewhat distasteful. However, the bulk of your damage is coming from other sources than your base weapon, so that's not too much of a sacrifice. For those who wish to take a martial focus, one solution is to focus in a martial weapon as well at your first CoT level. You'll have to sacrifice either Extend or Empower Spell, and you'll be effectively wasting a feat (the first focus), but it's an option.

It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!! No Problem... Nice build, Cin. You are right in recognizing that his weapon choice is "distasteful." I think you can mitigate that some in that there are some good Maces in the OCs, but can't speak for the rest of the Multiverse. However, trading Extend Spell for Martial, though intially attractive, may not be the wisest course of action. I think he gets a base amount of 11 Divine Mights and/or Shields a day, and then with his Stacking Empowered Eagles Splendours, he'll cap out with some nice damage. Using a spear would be a way to go, but I think this guy would need a shield if I'm not mistaken. So, best consign oneself to the Morning Star or Mace.

I think this is a fairly balanced character, can hold his own in any given situation, versatile, good-looking, but beware of Weapon Masters!

Aye, and thanks Grizz. I figure the choice of weapon is moot, as the damage is predominantly from other sources and doesn't rely on crits (and personally, I'd accept my fate and not bother with the Martial feat - but the option's there). Definitely I'd go sword and board with this guy. It's not an uber build by any means, but I feel it's reasonably solid.
