A ranger designed with flexibility and stealth in mind (and quite a lot of FEs). Probably has been done a lot of times before but anyhow... My version uses the bow preferentially but can also melee if needed. Gets ED. If you're going to play this, choose what you want to focus on more and tailor the feats accordingly (maybe sacrifice an FE or two, take crit/spec in shortswords, get IKD).
Discipline: 43(43) Tumble: 40(49) <-- MUST CC 5 before taking SD; Tumble 5 is a SD prereq.
Hide: 43(52) Move Silently: 43(52)
Spot: 43(35) +6 vs. FEs Set Traps: 16(25) Heal: 37(39)
I'm going to bed now and I have a feeling there's quite a bit of room for improvement in this build so comments/suggestions welcome. _________________ .:\_/:. Only those who have known darkness in (OvO) their hearts will see the shadows in life... (|__|) ..".."..

Looks like a decent Ranger build. Glad to see a Ranger who actually invests in Animal Empathy (Moradin knows I could never do it!). _________________ Got Hommlet? World of Greyhawk Action Server (with 1/2 price ales on Mondays!)
That's interesting news. How does it work exactly, you can substitute FE with any general feat once you are an epic character?
It's a pretty short list, really. EWF, Prowess, Epic Toughness, Blinding Speed and I think Improved Combat Casting. _________________ Got Hommlet? World of Greyhawk Action Server (with 1/2 price ales on Mondays!)
Ariel, Ookla, RIDE!
it can be very hard to make a good dex ranger. looks like you succeeded. nicely done! i remember mine...boy did that need tweaking. does some decent damage too. i like the dual fighting strategies option.
hooray for rangers!

I didn't really think it'd get such a big reception but I guess that's a good thing . I was thinking what if I'd change it to focus on the shortwords more, I'd drop PBS/Rapid for KD/IKD to deal with pesky things with low discipline (like mages) and taking the WS/EWS and Imp. Crit feats in the swhordswords instead. Would this be a good idea?
christian.schnabel, I didn't know about that part; Which build was it? _________________ .:\_/:. Only those who have known darkness in (OvO) their hearts will see the shadows in life... (|__|) ..".."..

strategic warrior. 35 Ranger, 2 SD, 3 Bard. well, yours is a little stronger. i got some nice skills, but in all it was a poor build. it my defense, it was my first. yours is better, so nevermind that.

This is so good to see. You understand the ranger concept very much. Both in build an in rp it seems. First: Ranger 26 is almost the ultimate level choice, the epic levels yielding three feats and the opportunity for BoE. Second, you use a bow as a main weapon, true to the original ranger fromm AD&D 1st edition. Third, you use animal empathy.
Your damage will be somewhat of a problem when fighting non-FE's, but you have so many that in the epics one should cover most of it. Arrows with elemental damage is rarely to hard to come by to. And your defensive capabilities is quite good.
Excellent. I love seeing people build good rangers.
