Rogue(25), Bard(5), Red Dragon Disciple(10)

Playable from level 1 to 40.. PvM

I was wondering why there are no dex-based RDDs out there and I decided to make one. He turned out to be a decent melee rogue with acceptable AB, good AC, decent saves and a fantastic skillset.

Halfling - any non lawful.

perhaps search and taunt into hide and move silently.

Very solid - a 42 AB with no melee classes is . . . outstanding.

Don't drop Taunt for PvP!! Taunt is very effective. And no one has concentration to resist it except the casters. Outstanding indeed - your build has 34 Dexterity and I can't see SC5 anywhere... whazzupwiddat?

blood and death. At most she has feats for SC III. at the cost of slippery mind, 1 AC and 1 AB. Not worth it, IMO. Or shuffle feats and take last two SC instead of epic prowess and crippling strike.

Very nice. I don't like dexers that aren't rogue. I like this one, very nice one.

21. RDD9 - EWF
22. RDD10
23. Rogue9
24. Rogue10 - GD27 * Improved Evasion // D26
25. Rogue11
26. Rogue12
27. Rogue13 - GD28 * Defensive Roll
28. Rogue14 // D29
29. Rogue15
30. Rogue16 - ED * Crippling Strike
31. Rogue17
32. Rogue18 // D30
33. Rogue19 - SC1 * SC2
34. Rogue20
35. Rogue21
36. Rogue22 - SC3 // D31
37. Rogue23
38. Rogue24 * SC4
39. Rogue25 - SC5
40. Bard5 // D32

loses one dexterity modifier, Armor Skin and Epic Prowess. Total of 3 less AC and 2 less AB. Not sure if it's worth it (don't like losing AB that much, really) but hey, each to his own

Rest, sword; thou hast thy fill of
blood and death. Another possibility:

21: Red Dragon Disciple(9): Epic Weapon Focus: Dagger, (INT=16)
22: Red Dragon Disciple(10): RDD: (Darkvision), (STR=18), (CHA=10)
23: Rogue(9)
24: Rogue(10): DEX+1, Great Dexterity I, Improved Evasion, (DEX=27)
25: Rogue(11)
26: Rogue(12)
27: Rogue(13): Great Dexterity II, Defensive Roll, (DEX=28)
28: Red Dragon Disciple(11): DEX+1, (DEX=29)
29: Red Dragon Disciple(12)
30: Red Dragon Disciple(13): Epic Dodge
31: Red Dragon Disciple(14): Epic Prowess
32: Red Dragon Disciple(15): DEX+1, (DEX=30)
33: Rogue(14): Self Concealment I
34: Rogue(15)
35: Rogue(16): Self Concealment II
36: Rogue(17): DEX+1, Self Concealment III, (DEX=31)
37: Rogue(18)
38: Rogue(19): Self Concealment IV
39: Rogue(20): Self Concealment V
40: Bard(5): DEX+1, (DEX=32)

You would lose 1 AB (DEX-1) and 2 AC (Armor Skin, DEX-1, RDD AC bonus+1), 3d6 sneak attack and win SCV and a few hitpoints. Instead of Epic Prowess one could take Armor Skin. Perhaps not an improvement but something different (and not a RDD(10) build ).

@fernandooa: Nevertheless a nice build.

I did not think on it when I first made it. But after I got told about the high dex I started thinking on redesigning it. I'm glad you did it for me .

The AB loss can be compensated by switching to 1 weapon + shield (still 40) or just singing.

Thanks for the comments and for the redesign. See you next time my brain borns a new idea .

*Edit:
Kamiryn, A sligh improvement on your version, I think you could trade the 20th rogue level for a bard one. The bard song improves a bit at level 6, rogue 20 does not give much else.

Just a note: He would have to take Armor Skin at RDD14 as Epic Prowess is not a bonus feat for RDDs.

She loses slippery mind to. But agreed, this would be the best way to it. Tough tradeoff. Armor skin can be useful, with SC V one walks a bridge hard to balance.

Edit: Because my tired eyes tricked me, I had to change this reply completely. *sigh*

According to the HotU manual, the Grimoire and the 2da files it is . Never tested it in game though.

fernandooa: correct, bard(6) would be better (loses even more skill points however).

No, there have been many others. In fact, I recall seeing a pure RDD30 somewhere around here.

Ariel, Ookla, RIDE! The search engine lists 14 builds with more then 10 RDD levels. And yes, there is one with 30 RDD levels.

[edit]It lists 108 with exactly 10 RDD levels and that does not include the hundred of RDD builds posted this month .[/edit]

I know I'm late to the party but what about these?

Intelligent design is neither. Science over superstition please. Just out of curiousity: is there any purpouse in taking more than 10 RDD lvls? Bonus feats and ac is about all. The extra breath weapon is useless, even at low levels due to it's increadibly daft DC.

...and yes I like RDD's. I just feel BW could have given just that little bit of thought to some of the Prestige Classes is all. also 12hp a level isn't bad either..

but if it were me I would sneak ESF Taunt in somehow... you may have to sacrifice another 1 AB but in a fight that Taunt could serve you up the another 6....

think I'm preaching to those that know anyway
