This is really just a modified version of Machiavelli_IUB's Doom Knight I thought the Doom Knight was brilliant but I decided to modify it for use on the pw story server Athas Reborn which is where I play most often. The Blackguard class on athas is seen as being a warrior champion dedicated to one of the many sorcerer kings that rule athas and the idea of a terrifying warrior with some ability to use magic (derived from the rogues umd ability) really appealed to me. I havnt seen many builds like this at all on athas reborn which is quite surprising considering some of the neat gear available for both the barbarian and the blackguard.

I included listen because I usually incorporate it into any build I make along with gear and items to buff listen to try and detect those pesky sneakers.

Playable from levels 1 through to 40 and Ideal for both pvp and pvm Choice of weapon is entirely upto you I went with Longsword and shield when I initially levelled this build but if I were to do it again I'd probably choose scimitar and shield instead. If I was going to use a two handed weapon I'd probably go for a greatsword.
For equipment I took enough gear to get +6 to strength and constituition as when you rage the greater rage gives you the extra +6 to max those stats which leaves gear slots open for other equipment usually gear that adds to charisma and the intimidate skill which is what opponents check against for the dc of your terrifying rage.
The Champion is obviously at his most powerful when raging and can do so upto 5 times a day this increases your stats and adds a bonus to will save however it drops your ac by 2, terrifying rage means opponents must make a will save vs 55(higher if you have charisma gear or gear that gives bonus to intimidate) or suffer from the effects of the terrifying rage -2 to saves and attacks and weaker opponents will be feared for 1d6 rounds, thundering rage adds 2d6 damage on crits when raging with a chance of deafening the opponent.
A total of 8d6 sneakattacks 7 from blackguard and 1 from rogue adds alot of extra damage if an opponent is feared or you have made a succesful knockdown. Dark blessing adds your charisma to saves so not only is charisma gear handy for the Terrifying rage it also helps boost your saving throws. Evasion Use magic device and tumble gained from the rogue levels and Uncanny dodge Barbarian fast movement and a couple of points of damage reduction from the barbarian levels all add even more survivability

He's referring to your format. Just a bit difficult to read. Clean it up a bit and ask Griphook to insert a revised version. _________________ Got Hommlet? World of Greyhawk Action Server (with 1/2 price ales on Mondays!)

ah thanks alot darkinferno looks good the bonus from rage on the start stats would only be +4 to str and con as you don't get the +6 till about lvl 33 which is when you get the greater rage with that build. first time I've posted a build, sorry bout the messy format.

Good build. Galom is one of 2 people who can consistantly smack me around in Athas Reborn. Good thing he's on my side.
Actually I think I put the second rogue level in this build at 37th when I originally levelled it.
who is this guy delt?
it seems like someone i should know huh.
The str is too low for Dev crit. I don't know how it is on other PWs but for Athas Reborn the lowest unmodified str you should have is 32 and 36 is best. then add your +12 str mod for 48 str.
The fortitude saves you have to deal with is going to make a critical miss the only way to get dev off. Even in PvP your the Fort saves for many are 50 or better.
And what Machine said, who is this guy?

seems fine to me, with gear and raging its a dc46 devcrit, there isnt alot more you can do to get it better if you still want a well rounded character. The terrifying rage will drop saves by2 for a shortperiod so that'll help I think the dc on that with gear ended up being somewhere in the mid 60s. The coolest part of it is the damage if you manage to kd or flank someone I was getting damage in the 100s on crits in those scenarios ... with a longsword. The devcrit is just a nice little bonus for those opponents with low fortsaves and those fort 50s who are unfortunate enough to roll a 1. The majority of my devcrit builds have the same str as this one altho I do have one that has str 52 with gear. anyway hows 48str going to make any difference in the case of fort 50? they still only fail on a 1.

True. Overall the saves on epic mobs are too high anyway what you really need is the highest AB possible and a scimmy for amount of crits.
