• High Use Magic Device. Like MacGuyver or any good marine, the Avenging Commando can improvise, adapt, and overcome. This gives huge versatility to the character, particularly if uses his rogue abilities to scout out a situation.
• Can use the best armor in the game without concern for spell failure (only casts from items and scrolls) or class/alignment restriction (use magic device).
• 7D6 Sneak Attack. Knockdown will have a whole new level of hurt. Permits sneak attacks for distracted or unsuspecting opponents.
• Level 1-4 Paladin Spells. Including Holy Avenger, Greater Magic Weapon (+5), Divine Favor +5, Bull Strength, Prayer, Protection from Evil. With Extend spell.
• Can set epic traps.
• Great saves. Divine Grace adds the charisma bonus to all saves. +5 for 10 CoT levels. +2 for charisma bonus from Paladin class. +4 to saves against spells due to spellcraft.
• Improved Evasion. The Avenging Commando will either take half damage or no damage against damage spells.
• Immune to fear and disease.
• Smite evil three times a day
• Cure disease.
• Lay on hands x2.
• Turn and destroy undead.
• Divine Wrath -- add +3 to attack, damage, and AC for two rounds.
• Good AB for a character with rogue abilities and feats.

first off, i would recommend scim instead of rapier since you can cast keen edge via scrolls on it.

second, how did you get divine shield without power attack? i would drop extra smiting for it. or LoH (since buffing alone can boost saves easily).

beyond that, a really cool build. i like it. looks like fun. the only thing that is missing is any sort of rogue presence pre-epic. not that i thin you will miss it, but i just thought i would mention it. since you have an ending strength of 30, you can afford to drop a few rogue levels pre-epic.

also, why end UMD on 42. if 43, i would understand, since plus cha it gets to 45. but otherwise 38 is enough. you can dump those points into something else. a bit into heal, for example. along with natural wis bonus you can do a little better healing, and a better DC against disease. i know, i know, paladins can cure that. but not more than once per day.

just my two cents. but they are minor.

i really like this one. my kinda build.

And I wondered what Power Attack was doing lingering around in that build, thanks for reminding me. Substitute that for LoH is perfect, this build's saves are actually pretty sick. In a good way, I mean.

Good hunting.

Heh, you are right for the OC and most PWs. I forgot that keenable rapiers is peculiar to my PW.

If I missed this before, thank you.

Man, I tell you, while this is playable 1-40, the real deal is to be as tight as you can be at level 40. It would be more playable early but less dominant late. And whaling at forty is where the fun is.

On my PW, you can get +6 to abilities with equipment. So 42 UMD + 2 native charisma + 6 modified charisma = 50. But it is true that 50 UMD is probably overkill. I have heal maxed, though.

i should learn to read. heal is maxed. so nevermind the UMD comment. i dunno where else to put those few points. and after i posted i realized that with simple buffing you could easily hit almost 50. assuming any cha equipment rounds it off nicely. overkill is just enough kill sometimes.

i always appreciate your builds. unique and strong, and equally versatile. i like that in a char.

-cs I tweaked this build after getting ready to build it on my PW. It is slightly better this way (+1 to fortitude save at the cost of . . . nothing really). Oh, and I tweaked the feats to add Taunt.

For what it's worth. None of the comments address anything that would not permit this build to substitute for the original post. Your CHA is somewhat low if you're planning to use Divine Might/Shield, 14 is low, even bufed to max into 26 gives a +7, which is almost the minimum for it, considering you also get Divine Wrath with +5 power, I would suggest you to change some STR for CHA.

More CHA also gives more saves.

Check this guy.

EDIT: Saves are never high enough IMO, in my most recent build I make Stunning Fist with DC around 60 buffed, and you would surely be angry if you get hit by a Devastating Critical from those max STR builds or something like that.
