Playable from level 1-40... PvM or PvP

With all the goody two-shoes paladins floating around here recently, I thought a nice evil character was needed. It's basically a Fighter/Cleric/Rogue with a couple of differences. The Fighter levels were all taken in epic levels, resulting in a 1 point lower AB but, with divine power, an extra attack at the highest AB for the character. The rogue levels were replaced with assassin levels, there aren't enough levels for a good death attack DC and you lose out on 44 skillpoints and a rogue feat, but this avoids an XP penalty and adds some spells that frees up the cleric to take war domain instead of trickery. All things considered a good alternative to the rogue/cleric, though I must admit that if you don't mind the XP penalty, taking rogue is a better choice than assassin. I went strength based for the damage, the AC is pretty good for an armor wearer so it does okay there. This build will do best in no to mid magic settings, but as long as you can buff your AB as high as a melee build, it remains viable.

Advantages

-Good Damage. Buffed he does 43+2D6 on a regular hit with a regular scimitar. Throw in a 6D6 death attack and he slaughters most enemies very quickly.
-Good AC. With no magic equipment he can manage a 53 AC, 65 if he chain casts UEF (A bit of a waste against the average opponent, but he can keep one up and if he sees a high a attack roll in the log, he can cast greater sanctuary and put a few more on.)
-6D6 Death Attack. Unless he boosts his int, he only gets a 23 DC on this, but it's good for extra damage.
-Good Attack Schedule. Unbuffed his AB is abysmal and he gets 3 attacks. Buffed he can manage a 63/58/53/63/63 attack schedule, his max is 65/60/55/65/65. In most settings this is a good attack schedule.
-Level 9 Cleric Spells. He has low DCs, but with a 23 caster level he is hard to dispel (except for a high level arcane caster with MD).
-Assassin Spells. He gets improved invisibility and darkness, which can be useful spells.
-High UMD. He can use equipment from any class (great for when he pries that holy avenger from the hands of a dead paladin) and use arcane scrolls.

Disadvantages

-Low Hitpoints. He can buff them up with endurance and aura of vitality.
-Low base saves. They are okay against spells, and he has spells that can make him immune to most effects (death ward, clarity, protection from alignment, undeath's eternal foe). It would still be nice for them to be higher.
-He is in real trouble if he gets dispelled. If he gets dispelled, he better cast greater sanctuary and run like the wind.

Nice build Mith and well thought out as usual. Only thing I might do (personal preference) is take Blind Fight a bit earlier. Nice use of Fighter. That's exactly how I would do it (unless I were using a club )

To be fair, Mith mentions the Holy Avenger under the advantages: high UMD entry.

Will, the HA will dispel on hit - very handy vs mages. Thanks for all the feedback.

Yes with a 25 UMD a character can use a HA as if he were a paladin. This includes the damage bonus against evil and the dispel on hit. Even a weapon with the holy sword spell on it can be used this way until the spell duration runs out.

I don't actually agree with this, technically a holy avenger is a +2 weapon in the hands of a non-paladin and a +5, dispel on hit, +1D6 divine damage against evil weapon in the hands of a paladin. UMD is supposed to let a character use an item he could not typically use. A rogue can use a holy avenger without UMD, he just doesn't get the special beneifits that a paladin could. I don't think UMD should grant the extra benefits in this case. That said, if I can UMD a holy avenger and I find a holy avenger, I'm going to be using a holy avenger.

I don't think I've seen the words "Holy Avenger" so many times in a single message...

I like the build, although I don't think I'd ever use it (it's a good build, I just don't really like clerics for some reason I never figured out).
