This is a melee build that is specialized in surviving the worst situations and countering them. It is usable in PvP and medmagic to highmagic PvM.

"One has only seen little of life, if one hasn't also seen the hand that mercifully — kills." ~ Aphorism 69 (Beyond Good and Evil (1886)), Friedrich Nietzsche

Usability:
PvM
PvP

PvP Advantages:
High suvivability: High fort (Thanks to feats and con) + High HP: You cannot be taken down that fast.
Bane of Enemies against all non-shifter player races.
High Fort (With items only): Don't fear from Dev Crit or Implosion as it cannot take you down.
High AB: 61+ AB will help to hit nearby any foe most of the times.

PvP Disadvantages:
No stealth: This build does not feature enough points to give you stealth
Perfect in high-end and equipped only: This build works in PvP well at high-end (30+) only and given equipment.
Low Reflex and Will: You are prone to traps and mind-affecting spells.
(Possibly) Average AC: You can be hit much by AB builds.

Errata:
The BoW AC is not 67, it is 69 (Forgot to add RDD Bonus)

Note: This build does not work on servers with that criteria:

-Banned Devastating Critical (or otherwise limited)
-Banned Bane of Enemies (or otherwise limited)
-Banned Red Dragon Disciple (or otherwise limited)
-Highly limited or banned item properties: Strength+, Dexterity+, Fortitude+

Edited By Der Unbekannte on 06/10/06 22:13

A few things. Don't include skillpoints in the leveling schematics. It messes the readability. I edited it out this time. Include Class+levels in title. don't give information about specific servers in the build, we want naked or self-attained stats. Only type the class you advance in each level. I have edited a few of those things for you, but please do it yourself next time.

If you feel the need to include info on how you get on this and that PW then add a post, don't do it in your build. You can however tell us how he looks in say a +5 setting, just do it after the naked stats.

I don't say these things to be rough on you, it's just friendly advice. Please continue to post, just more orderly.

I run the Pre-Epic Builders guild. Join and share your experience. Hello, Kannte - or, should I say, Guten Nacht

I can't speak on behalf of everyone here, but please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tyr (as in Deborah Tyr), and I'm a recent initiate to this wonderful guild myself; having posted here for less than 3 weeks, and I wish to share with you just the following to spare you some, well, growing pains

Folks here want just the bare and naked stats, followed by (in a separte line) what it is that your character can do as a result of the buffs you've built in to it, and not accounting for any equipemnt, scrolls, etc. whatsoever; these are important. It's good, in a separate post (ie. at the end of your build) to put other considerations in (such as, for instance, what the character may look like in non-uber gear (ie., less than +5, especially since in low magic worlds +3 may be considered pushing it). These things are in gereral most welcome, and with which I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say that that's good stuff. However, the bare naked stats, and what your character can do as a result of the buffs included in the build are what is important. Please by all means, once again, at the end, include the other stuff: that's just great stuff, but it is extra information

As for me, I absolutely love the effective use of quotes; very well done (I congratulate you on that); many here like stories, though not everyone adds em. As such, that would seem to be your choice; but I totally agree that, when quotes are effectively used, they alone can represent a good story

Willkommen to the guild, from a new member, too.

Tyr

ps. most important piece of advice that I can give you, listen to these folks, this guild adds such amazing polish to your builds, it's just wonderful. Their eyes are fresh, and their suggestions are completely unbiased. And finally, have fun. That's what it's all about!

Nice build. I was just toying with a PVP ranger concept myself. Too bad about the lowish AC and other saves (besides fort). Have you gotten him to level 40 on BoW? listen is a waste because you dont get keen senses. As for the 12 cha , the spot /listen buffs wont last really long and sneakers would outrun you. You should go with 28ranger ,put more pts into str (prolly 18) ,you need every single point ab you can get. And on BoW you can use the gloves of all seeing , its the same like using 4 bard lvls.

WIS 14
CHA 12

You might want to drop your CHA to 8 and raise your DEX to 14. It will increase your reflex save, and you could fight better in light armor, at the cost of your bard spells which aren't that useful with only 4 levels.

Quote:
24: Ranger 23: Strength +1 Favored Enemy: Gnome Improved Strength +1
25: Ranger 24:
26: Ranger 25: Favored Enemy: Dvarves
27: Bard 2: Improved Strength +2

I assume you mean great strength, as opposed to improved strength. I would drop the two great strengths and take epic prowess and armor skin. You would be trading 1 point of damage for 2 points of AC, in general a good trade.

Quote:
fully naked stats with non-2WF:
AB 43 (With a normal Weapon of your Weapon focus choice) +6 against any non-shifter player race = 49 naked AB (Possible unbuffed AB with BoW standards: 43 +4 (Weapon) +6(Favored Enemy, all player races) +6 (Maxed bonus Strength) +2 (Bane of Enemies) = 61 AB)

Favored Enemy only gives you a bonus to damage, spot, listen and taunt checks. It does not give an AB boost (if it did you would see far more rangers in this guild). Bane of enemies does give you a +2. As it stands your unbuffed AB is 43 (45 vs. favored enemies). With the equipment listed, 53 (55 vs. favored enemies). You can cast aid to increase that by 1.

Quote:
AC 22 (No AC bonus by items, buffc or armour calculated at this) (With BoW standards: 22 +4 (Haste) +6 (Maxed dex) + 2 (Leather armour (@Dex 22)) +6 (Armour bonus) +6 (Deflection) +3 (Tower Shield) +6 (Shield bonus) +6 (Natural Bonus) +6 (Dodge Bonus) = 67)

Your base AC is 22 (10 + 8 (tumble) + 4 RDD bonus)
Your equiped AC is 67 (you've already counted the RDD bonus)

Quote:
Fortitude 33 (With BoW standards: +12 (Two Fort +6 rings) +5 (Cloak of resistance +5) = 50 (= 58(!)(Spellcraft bonus) against Implosion and other fort based death spells))

Spellcraft will only raise that to 53 (saving throw bonuses cap at +20). Not that it matters, the highest implosion DC is 48 (10 + 14 (38 wisdom) +6 Epic Spell Focus (evocation) +6 (+12 to wisdom) +9 (spell level) +3 (implosion bonus)).

Not bad for a first build. You might want to consider trading two bard levels for two ranger levels and getting another epic feat. There are more major changes I could suggest which would improve your build further, but that should be enough to start.
