This is a build I started using in modules and on new servers when I was just getting the feel of things. He's surprisingly effective and versatile, and good fun to play. The original concept was a Dwarven mercenary type, which is why I chose many of the feats and skills I did (exotic weapons, and the trap skills). I pictured him as a well-worn, hardened mercenary who knew a few tricks, had honed his skills to the point that he created much of his own luck, and could readily take on a mission and get the job done.
This has been sitting in my vault for some time, and I ran across it the other day while sorting through some files. Nothing really new and innovative here, but I thought it was worth posting, as this level split has not been posted that I could see. The closest thing to it is I...Samphus' Obstinate Bugger, which goes for Dev Crit and takes more Rogue than this one does.
Note that this is somewhat of a 'roleplay/concept' build, so there are a number of feat choices that could easily be switched to suit your taste and playstyle.
21)CoT10: Epic Will/ EWF:Dwarven Waraxe 22)Rogue5 23)FTR8: EWS:Dwarven Waraxe 24)Rogue6: GRT STR I (22)/ CON (19) 25)FTR9 26)FTR10: Epic Prowess 27)Rogue7: GRT CON I (20) 28)FTR11: CON (21) 29)FTR12: DR I 30)FTR13: GRT CON II (22) 31)FTR14: DR II 32)Rogue8: STR (23) 33)FTR15: GRT STR II (24) 34)FTR16: DR III 35)FTR17 36)FTR18: GRT STR III (25)/ Armor Skin/ STR 26 37)Rogue9 38)FTR19 39)Rogue10: GRT STR IV (27)/ Improved Evasion 40)FTR20: Epic Toughness I/ STR (28)
Of note: the Epic Toughness feat is one of those 'throwaway' feats that really isn't necessary. You could easily drop 4 FTR levels and replace it with 4 CoT, taking Armor Skin as the CoT bonus epic feat. You'd get +2 on all your saves and only lose out on 20 HPs. Most likely a better idea. I left it the way it is, as that's how I originally played the character.
Seems to me with a reflex save as high as this guy's, Improved Evasion is very rarely going to be any better than regular Evasion, because you're almost never going to fail a save. That being the case, wouldn't you do better with Crippling Strike?
As I said, there are a number of feat choices you could change to suit your taste and playstyle.
Solid build. Very handy for getting to know a new environment, and very nicely suited to dungeon crawling. _________________ Experience is the mother of good judgement; bad judgement is the father of experience.
