This is one of my usual RP builds, which I never posted before for not being a powerbuild (yeah, Thax plays RP builds from time to time, avado is going to kill me for that blasphemy), but since the class combination isn't very used I thought I'd show it.

The concept is a Druid who was taken away from the forest when he was 6 years old, after that he was educated in a city by the Human society, so I thought Fighter would model it pretty decently, that way he learns to use Martial Weapons, which makes sense, and then I can pick a Halberd

Initially, I made a story on how his grove was massacred and he ended in the care of some rude dudes, which also added that his spider died, so RP-wise this build has no Shapeshift nor Animal Companion, but it was pretty long and I never really wrote it down... so I didn't want to post it

The spells DC isn't very amazing since his WIS is only 19, but I decided to take two Spell Focuses anyway and it's not completely useless, Storm of Vengeance can still paralyze a good deal of STR-based meleers and Fire Storm still deals neat damage. Creeping Doom and Ice Storm work alright, his penetration is not really that low. All around, spells help his playability so I tried to maintain them somewhat decent.

The combat stats are obviously not those of a PvP machine, but they don't suck entirely, I actually use all the long-term buffs when I play Druids, they last until the next rest. The build is still playable for a good deal of servers and should work on pretty much any magical environment.

RP, nah. Everyone has to rp once in awhile. Thats why we play nwn, right? To pretend we can pick up women, no?

DRUID! Who plays druids anymore? lol this should be a fun build. I thought that Brady (nwn strat guide from 2002 or so) did this build to lv 20? LOL Halbred is points for looks! That is really all i can say bout druids! In my view, they are clerics that want to sit on the fence instead of making a stand for their God!!

You should listen to avado

I'm not the biggest druid fan, but I think I could play a character like that. That's one strong tree hugger.. hehe.

I like it to tell you the truth, he's got a uniqueness that makes the build charming while he's not a poofter either. Well done!

Who told you that?

Hey, I play Druids, a lot of them (WIS based though). Druid / Monk is my favorite build, it's very very strong in low levels (the bear shift completely owns your average melee at level 6) and works nicely on any low magical environment, besides, Clerics don't get dragon shape. Druid's buffs last very long so I find that really nice, not like when I play Clerics I usually fight with Divine Power and Divine Favor, I hate so much the low duration buffs!

Why would a strategy guide make this build? it lacks tons of powerbuilding. There's no real reason to take Fighter other than the BAB and a feat or two, give it a Monk level and drop STR for WIS and even the Elder Earth Shape gets a higher STR, APR, AB and damage (and that's just before the dragon shape) plus the DCs and the will save go a lot higher. Power-wise, a Druid should melee while shifted, never with a weapon, and EWS doesn't work on shifts.

I tend to play weak Druids, too, i.e., non-Monk Druids. And I usually throw in Fighter like this. For whatever reason (probably from some unfulfilled desire from the old BG saga), I always try to make a Jaheira-esque type druid, who could sling bullets and fight with a scim, as well mix it up with some spells. I like what you have here, which is reminiscent of that old way of playing Druids.

Ariel, Ookla, RIDE! Well, I certainly wasn't purposely imitating Jaheira. Truth be told, I never liked that Fighter/Druid multiclass build, she got out of my party as soon as I found 5 characters to ditch her and get a full party. Back on the days of Baldur's Gate spellswords didn't work very well (or, at all, with the lack of levels), it improved a bit with BG2 methinks, but I really never liked the Druid class until Neverwinter Nights (monk cheese may have had some relevance about that).

Using the 2 ESF's in a dex based sneak build, to me, just looks like you're teasing your diabetic opponent with extra sugar on your whipcream covered chocolate mudcake.

No, I wasn't suggesting that you were, but that I do. What I saw in your build was a fighting druid that didn't focus on shapes or dragons, but used melee with spell support, which is what prompted me to think of the Jaheira thing since that was primarily all she was good for. I actually thought she was a pretty good support character and was usually one of the last to fall in battle. But let's not talk about that. I just like fighting druid builds, which this one clearly is. I also like the fact that you stuck to two classes and didn't throw in the obligatory 3rd class.

Yeah, I surprised myself with that, but all for the sake of roleplaying, or else there'd be a Bard level there for skilldumps. Most of the time when I play Druid/Monk builds I don't feel the need for a third class, so I though: "Well, let's pretend the Druid/Fighter is as good as the Druid /Monk and now he doesn't need a third class either!".

If your looking for a non-monk/bard 3rd class option... you can replace 6 Epic Fighters with Champion of Torm. You'd get the same feats plus a +3 to your saves. That's pretty decent, though I'd never be able to make an adequate roleplaying reason for a Druid to become a Champion of Torm...

I never consider the "Torm" part when creating a Champion of Torm (well, unless my deity would happen to be Torm). It is basically the "Divine Champion" Prestige Class. You could call your Druid the Champion of "your deity here" or just be known as a Champion of the Woods or Forest or whatever.

As a side note, I had to clean my glasses when I saw a post by Thax that involved the letters RP.

Well, I've posted basically all the powerbuilds I play, and I do have a few RP builds disguised as "concept" builds like Immortal Wimp and Arcane Wall, so I figured RP was a good excuse to post a build that might not be so powerful, but still unusual enough to deserve being posted (many times I've had good ideas for a build only to find out Kail, Finn, grizz, Mith or Cin already made them, man that blows out the whole originality point). The build is still well-made.

I know this feeling, and yes, the build does look very well put together. Though, I've never played a Druid before. I probably should try new things more often.
