Well, since I already put up a non-dc based mage, I figured I'ld put up a DC based mage for those of you that like killing things by simply pointing at whatever stands in your way. (Don't ask about the name, friend was drunk and managed to say "Dwarfizard" when I asked him what I should name this thing so I could post it)
Wizard(38), Harper Scout(1), Ranger(1), Dwarf
STR: 12 DEX: 8 CON: 18 WIS: 8 INT: 18 (38) CHA: 6
01: Wizard(1): Spell Focus: Evocation 02: Wizard(2) 03: Wizard(3): Greater Spell Focus: Evocation 04: Wizard(4): INT+1 05: Wizard(5): Spell Focus: Necromancy 06: Wizard(6): Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy 07: Wizard(7) 08: Wizard(8): INT+1 09: Wizard(9): Empower Spell 10: Wizard(10): Maximize Spell 11: Wizard(11) 12: Wizard(12): INT+1, Silent Spell 13: Wizard(13) 14: Wizard(14) 15: Wizard(15): Alertness, Spell Focus: Enchantment 16: Wizard(16): INT+1 17: Wizard(17) 18: Wizard(18): Iron Will 19: Wizard(19) 20: Wizard(20): INT+1, Greater Spell Focus: Enchantment 21: Wizard(21): Great Intelligence I 22: Harper Scout(1): Epic Skill Focus: Discipline 23: Wizard(22) 24: Wizard(23): INT+1, Great Intelligence II, Epic Spell Focus: Necromancy 25: Wizard(24) 26: Wizard(25) 27: Wizard(26): Great Intelligence III, Epic Spell Focus: Enchantment 28: Wizard(27): INT+1 29: Wizard(28) 30: Wizard(29): Great Intelligence IV, Great Intelligence V 31: Wizard(30) 32: Wizard(31): INT+1 33: Wizard(32): Great Intelligence VI, Great Intelligence VII 34: Wizard(33) 35: Wizard(34) 36: Wizard(35): INT+1, Great Intelligence VIII, Epic Spell: Epic Warding 37: Wizard(36) 38: Wizard(37) 39: Wizard(38): Great Intelligence IX, Great Intelligence X 40: Ranger(1): INT+1, Epic Spell Focus: Evocation
This is a generalist wizard btw, and the focuses can be switched to whatever you want, but as it stands you have access to fort/will/reflex save spells..whatever you're fighting is bound to have at least 1 low save.
Skill points can be distributed however you want, I just find casting a darkness (mording your opponent if it has UV/TS) and stealthing amusing
I used Evocation/Necromancy/Enchantment, as all 3 schools have viable lvl 9 spells: Dominate Monster (Will), Wail of the Banshee (Fort), Meteor Shower (Reflex)

Rock solid Wizard. You'll need to post something about intended environments, playable 1-40 stuff, and the other usual stuff, which will help dispel any iffiness on your ESF: Disc choice, but still rock-solid. _________________ Got Hommlet? Oh, Sorry about that forgot, lol.
Playable 1-40, PvM/PvP
The ESF: Disc can be replaced by an ESF of your choice, I just find a higher chance of resisting the random KDs you find in PvM (or the spam you'll see in PvP) useful.
With 3 different spell focuses, I doubt it'll be hard to find suitable areas to level in, or low saves to abuse
There's no doubt it's a strong caster, but I'm always skeptic about Harper Scout really helping a build. I've done a few builds with HS and some weird stuff has come out, but I can't find how it strengthens this build. _________________ "My name is Thaxll'ssyllia, but you simians may refer to me merely as "Sir", if you prefer a less... syllable intensive workout."

HS was just a way to fit in a ESF as well as Grt Int X, 3 Epic Spell Focuses and Epic Warding.
You could of course switch out HS/Alertness/Iron Will for Dodge/Mobility/SD just switch your attributes around a bit.
Either way, I liked being able to have 3 Epic focuses/Grt Int X/Epic Warding and still fit in a Epic Skill Focus without really losing anything.
This looks ROCK solid. Geez. I love you man. I love you. (tears of joy)

If you drop the maximize spell, switch alertness and iron will to dodge/mobility (adjust attributes) and take an SD level pre-epic (instead of HS epic), you can still (By using wiz 20 as an epic feat) get the three epic spell foci, Great Int X, and Epic Warding as well as having HIPs and your ESF: Discipline.
Alternatively you could take one PM pre-epic and be able to take toughness at the expense of iron will and alertness, as well as gaining a bonus to AC and better saves.
Note that in both Ranger will be moved to character level 39 for the ESF discipline to be taken on the same level.

Take Ranger pre-epic (will bump lvl 20 Wizard bonus feat into epic; take Greater Spell Focus with Ranger FE), and switch Harper Scout for Monk. You'll lose the HS bonus feat, but will get Evasion and can buff WIS to get some extra AC. Even better,if you were to use a little Melee Mage tactics with this build, you could dual-wield kamas w/ Flurry-of-Blows for 6 attacks, 7 hasted (!!) or 6 unarmed attacks w/ Flurry & Haste. Icing on the cake if you Melee Mage like this: you get Cleave for free, too.
Making those changes will loose you Epic Skill Focus (Discipline), but gain Evasion, Cleave, Improved Unarmed Strike, ability to use Monk robes/boots/gloves, and two extra main-hand attacks + option to Flurry when using kamas or unarmed. Essentially a Melee Mage that gets A LOT of mileage against the mobs with Flame Weapon + Keen Weapon + etc. kamas, and then can nuke the BBEG with 45DC spells vs. whatever its low save appears to be.
Incidentally, I don't find any Wizard/Ranger/Monk combos using pulse cap's search engine, so maybe it's never been included on this board. I've had this guy (without the tri-focus, and not a Dwarf; bravo on the tri-focus) sitting in a spreadsheet for more than a year, never play-tested.
On Edit: dropping Harper Scout will also allow you to switch Alertness and Iron Will for Extend Spell and Toughness.
On edit again: If you don't care about maxing Discipline, Tumble and Listen, then take the Monk level pre-epic, too. Level 17 would be the obvious candidate (though taking it earlier would only make getting Tumble 20 more expensive as Wizards can attain it by level 37 paying double, so the Monk tumble pre-epic is really just a discount). Doing so would make the build more playable early on, and would net you +2 to all saves. Moving Ranger pre-epic already gave you +2 Fort and -1 Will. This will cost you 20 points to Discipline, Tumble and Listen, maybe Persuade, too.

This was originally a 38/1/1 with SD in place of HS, however I find that SD tends to be modified on servers so I went ahead with HS instead just to have a build that's useable pretty much anywhere you make this thing.
Either way though, 2 feats, drop con a bit and raise dex for dodge/mobility, easy changes to make if you're playing on a server that doesn't have a modified SD class

Oops. Following my advice above would earn you an XP penalty (and a severe one if both classes are taken early) unless your race is Human, Elf, Half-elf or Gnome.
Taking a ranger level pre-epic would also question taking ranger at all, as the whole point of ranger is a free bonus epic general feat. All you get pre-epic is a single favoured enemy...

Untrue, GSF: X is selectable instead of FE if SF: X has already been taken. _________________ They can't stop us Let them try For Heavy Metal We will die

As far as I know, Rangers pre-epic can only take Favored Enemy as their bonus feat.

No, they can take Greater Spell Focuses provided they already have a spell focus. _________________ Got Hommlet? World of Greyhawk Action Server (with 1/2 price ales on Mondays!)

Indeed... and it's easy to verify if you don't believe us _________________ They can't stop us Let them try For Heavy Metal We will die
I'll take your word on it though either way, a free pre epic grt spell focus seems to pale in comparison to a free epic feat through ranger
But taking the Ranger pre-epic bumps the Wiz 20 bonus feat into epic, so it is a wash feat-wise. It will get you +2 Fort saves and the chance to cross-class some skills earlier, however. Alternatively, take Ranger in epic and some other class pre-epic to get both bonus feats as Epic Feats.

Exactly.

In this build HS should actually be moved at teh end of the build to max out tumble. In another kind of build it is a possibility though. _________________ They can't stop us Let them try For Heavy Metal We will die
