I love spellswords and this is one of the best, imo. Epic dodge, epic warding, monk speed, 32 caster levels, empowered or maximized IGMS, Bigby's, high AC. Very good in both PvM and PvP. It lacks good fort saves and high AB and damage, but nobody its perfect.

My math is terrible.. i count 26 wizard levels. WHere is this 32 caster level you refer too?

Also, like i said on a previous incarnation of this guy, epic dodge with a wiz is a nice idea (3 builds is over doing it though ), but this guy has 23 bab and no real means of increasing it (without his clerical and bard friends to make scrolls).

My question is, i have seen a High Con dwarf wizard done for the shields (where you dont really want high ac), so this guy is a puzzlement. If he is a caster, that is one thing. If he is meant to be a melee/caster, i am wondering how epic dodge works with shields (wiz shields)?

Damage shields only trigger on-hit. An epic dodged blow, like a parried blow is not considered a hit. Thanks Whiz, that's what i figured. Maybe the idea of an epic dodging wiz isnt so hot afterall!! LOL Hi

26 + epic spell penetration = 32 caster levels for spell penetration purposes. This character will always bypass max item SR.

I am not the author, so I do not know how this character is played. I have one with the same level split which does not use shields for defense (he has only 8 con and very low hitpoints). He relies on HIPS + high AC + epic dodge + concealment for defense, and on melee (6 APR) + igms + bigbys for offense. Also, HIPS + Mords (to dispel true sight) combination is very useful. Ups, I took a second look and it is quite different from my build, even with the same 9/5/26 split. My suggestions:

stats: start with 18 dex and 16 int.

pre-epic: drop combat casting, toughness and greater SP (you will take it in epic). take WF: kama, Blindfight and weapon finesse.

epic: drop ES: hellball, ES: EMA, improved combat casting and 2 great int (19 is enough). Take more great dex, EWF, Epic prowess and greater SP.

You will end with 38 AB and up to 7 APR, improving your melee presence. Your defense will be still great and your casting power will remain the same.

If you consider that takin a pre-epic feat in epic is an anathema, drop blindfight, tale greater SP pre-epic and EMA in epic. After all, you can dispel II with your mords.

Hi

Ahh, my bad! Usually when we talk about caster level it more times than not refers to dispelability, not beating SR, for the simple reason that, as far as i can see, it is a bonus, not actual caster level. Well i must say that as the author im abit surprised.

First of all this characters big plusses are his offensive spells, hips and defensive abilities.
Everyting else is secondary including ranged or melee combat (who came up with this being a spellsword really?)

Strategy Melee:
1. surprise them in hips and debuff them with mord or use a bigby to disable them.
2. go hips and move to another location (not always needed when opponent is disabled )
3. Finish it off with maxed IGMS.

For Casters:
1. HIPS and Mord of course.
2. Only note now is that you should watch out for area of effect spells. Your saves should help you out though.
up your stats and use protection from spells (8+) and dont forget you get a 9+ from spellcraft.
3. For the rest try it the same way.
