hey.
thanks for all the good tips and advice i got in this forum so far.

assuming a straight strenght based fighter (not weaponmaster), with improved critical feat and equal weapons to chose from, which one would you take?

keen +6 Scimitar/Rapier: crit on 12-20, 1d6 damage, x2 damage on crit

"keen" +6 warhammer/waraxe: crit on 18-20, 1d8 damage, x3 damage on crit

note: assume non-bosses are "hitable" on a roll of 12.

greetings

In general rule the scimitar/rapier is definitely stronger if you can hit through all its threat range, that's going to work all the time, it only becomes weaker if you do not crit through all its threat range.

I don't think you can Keen a Warhammer. you cannot cast keen edge on the hammer, but you can add the ability "keen" to them in the toolset. Are you going for Dev Crit or not? With Dev Crit, all that matters is the range, not the multiplier (dead is dead....). Without it, it's a simple calculation: 2 * 45% = 90% bonus damage or 3 * 15% = 45% bonus damage. Assuming they are hittable at 12, scim is better.

TM thanks.
no, not going for dev crit.

That is if you only have one attack, and can confirm every threat. They are closer than your calcution indicate, but the end result is basically the same. Scimitar wins out.
As everyone knows, a lot of factors play into this. Blunt is the least resisted damagetype, some enemies have DR etc....
