I haven't played in awhile so I'm a bit out of the loop on this topic, but has Whirlwind attack been fixed?

Thanks!

Nope. All extra attacks are at a descending -5 starting with full AB.

EDIT Actually I take that back. It seems the 1.69 fixed it.

Aye, 1.69 fixed it.

It seems 1.69 also fixed the bug where you sometimes completely stopped attacking after using WWA, happening in modules with .HAKs and the like.

So, if it's not bugged anymore, it would be profitable to reassess if Improved Whirlwind Attack is useful or not. Any thoughts?

Edwin Odesseiron - Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn I dunno. If you have IWWA, you're a DEXer and probably like sneak attacks, which WWAs are not.

In a high magic environment the dexers will do better anyway and the damage bonuses on the weapon might make it well worthwhile. I haven't checked assassin, but perhaps a single WWA could paralyze a lot of creatures at a time. Or try shadow dancer where you hide, whirlwind, hide whirlwind. It seems sneaks are impossible in whirlwind (even if the target is stunned). What is possible is expertise mode (which may be a real boon given all your attacks are at full BAB). The real thing that gives IWWA a significant leap in usage is that it works with on-hits. Thus you could stun a few creatures each round meaning a lot less attacks on you.

Aye, it was the Hooded One (Grimnir) who discovered it long ago IIRC.

WWA also comes handy if one needs to attack an enemy under GS cover.

Someone mentioned it shouldn't be possible according to PnP rules. Hence I commenced massive testing, and under no circumstance at all can you get sneak attacks from WWA.

IWWA has on-hit properties, you say? Does that mean they have to save vs death attack paralyze still? Even though you don't get the extra damage.

I know its soo wrong, but if you think on it, bioware are genuis!! See, all you are really doing is spinning in the air! I dont know bout you guys, but i ALWAYS spin in the air, walking down the street! Being a cleric, i always assumed, being in GS that i could be seen. It is so nice to know that no one else sees when i spin down the street!! Err, I think it's that you can use it to start a combat and thus lure an enemy that's hiding under Greater Sanctuary into combat (thus breaking it), rather than being able to use it to attack without breaking your own GS.

I agree with Gamm. The way I read the above statement is that if one of your opponents is under GS that you can harm them by performing a WWA in the area they are in.

I could be wrong.

Yes, that's what I meant: one can use WWA to attack an opponent who is protected by GS. Very handy vs those pesky clerics and mages thinking themselves safe from harm.
