I am not sure if anyone remembers, and i am trying to get a hold of Anuis, but the first builds on the guild were from billbo, or something like that. He didnt create the builds, but he somehow transfered them.
I will miss you guys alot. Thanks for letting me be apart of this for so many years, starting as a green horn, then as a novice builder, then as a perpetuator of sillyness, then finally, as a senior! See you all on another plane I am already on the social forum if you really want to be my friend! LOL

I am still thinking of a way to save all these builds. All I could come up with so far is this:
- Each builder should have a backup of his / her builds, so we need to update and save the index, then contact each one of the builders when we have a new domain or forum.
- I am talking to a friend to try to find somewhere to store all that information. The problem is that both of us work A LOT so we barely have time to speak. This weekend I might make some progress, since my girl won't be coming to see me, so I'll have time to look into it. I need one of you to be responsible for contacting the others once it's done (which means having the index updated and saved in your computer). Anyone who's up for the challenge, just post here and I'll PM you later.

Impossible. I would wager that the vast majority of posters can no longer be contacted. This also does nothing for the comments on a build, which, though less valuable than the builds themselves, would still be extremely painful to lose.

I doubt storage is a great problem. Taken altogether, I can't imagine these posts take that many gigs of space. I'm sure the space could be found. I'd be happy to come up w/ a hundred gigs, if I thought it would be helpful, and I'm one of the fairly-techless, with mediocre hardware. I'm sure there's someone here with tetra-bytes available. The issue is getting the information.

And how. The issue is that it still seems like cutting and pasting is the best available option. That's a lot of cutting and pasting. Perhaps, if we had more time, we could divy up the builds between those that are willing, but time, at this juncture, is extremely limited. I'll admit, I am currently far from optimistic. This sucks. This seriously sucks. I keep hoping someone will come up with a solution, but as of yet, no such luck, and come Monday, every day will dawn with the fear that there is no more ECB, and all has been lost. Major, major suckage.
That's why i was hoping to get in touch with Anuis! Looks as though he did something like that when he started ECB so many moons ago. Damn annonymous forums!!

To answer how I did it, Bill and I took our time with the main forums to copy and paste every builds we could find to get the guild started. It was pain to do it but we managed to do it.
I will try to do it again, however I will need someone to offer a place to put it all in. I really do not have time to do it all, but I will do my best.
If anyone wants to keep in touch with me, I am on the social site as well. Should be easy enough to find me since I used same name as here.

This way, I will have more time to C&P all other builds into one folder that I designated Build Backups. Inside will contain however many I can get this weekend.

Heheheh... I found a better way.. of course it will take alot more space.. which I am fortunate to have. I have quite over 400 gigs of free space at the moment.
I will be saving each pages instead. That will contain other posts, it might not be all though, as well.
But, it will still take me a bit to do. But I will try to get it done!

In addition.. I don't think I am going to bother with the PRC forum, that one has been dead for several years. So I don't think it's worth saving.
As for NWN 2, I have no idea since pretty much most of it is already on NWN 2 vault thing site for builds. So I probably won't bother with it unless there is demand for it... hopefully someone will do this actually. I have little time to spare and it will be taken up with the main NWN build forum.
Eventually, perhaps, I will compile all data into one source and release it on NWVault where everyone can view all builds that has been built, collected so far.

Awesome, Anuis! I will take time this weekend to try to find somewhere to host all this information. There is a social website called Orkut that we normally use here in Brazil, which is kind of like a Myspace or Facebook. There you can create a COMMUNITY, which is similar to a guild and post all the stuff. I was trying to find a better way, since the forum tools are really limited there, but so far I haven't been able to. Even if it is temporary, it'll allow for the ECB to continue to exist and give us time to try to find a new "home planet".
You don't need to worry about my builds, since I have all of them here in my own personal backup. I think that all active builders should do the same. That would save A LOT OF TIME. Also, if I may suggest, I wouldn't bother with the builds that are no longer legal. Cool as they may be, awesome as they may be, they can no longer be done, so there's no reason to keep them around (and that would also leave a lot of room for people to post new build wherever this forum migrates to).
I'll be in touch with you this weekend for sure, when and if I come up with a better way. Don't worry, you're not alone in this! Long live the ECB!!

I know it's a lot of work and I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. Have enjoyed so muchly looking through all the builds and the commentary about them. Have used some of them in PW's over the years.
Sad to see both this guild and the forums go bye-bye. Like a lot of you, I haven't been on here and active as I have been in the past. I still play NWN though -- just not as much online as I used to.
Thanks again to everyone for making this place so great. Hate to see it go, but I guess "all good things.."

I tried using that and it doesn't download the specified parts of sites that I want. Told it to only download from Epic Character Builder's guild and all therein and it downloads main forums instead?
I am going to do it by hand. If someone else manage to use the program and get it working, please let me know.

In response to Maximillian Kane's, I am saving every builds regardless. Some may be illegal yes. But better to err on caution and save it anyway rather than to lose anything that may be useful.
In addition to that, even if it's illegal due to 1.69 patch, it's still legal. Why I say that? Think of it, even if it is illegal, all one have to do is adjust the 2da back to where it was before the patch was introduced and it will become legal. If I were to play in module that has altered 2das that allows early dragon shapes, etc... then the builds in question would be useful in that mod(s).

OK, if you're willing to do the work and if you think it's worth it, you won't hear me complain about it. I was merely suggesting a way to reduce the huge amount of work you'd have to go through. About my builds, as I said, you may skip those if you wish. Wherever ECB goes to, I'll be there to post'em again. If you decide where you're going to post all the info, whether you take on avado's suggestion to recreate the ECB in the social forums, I would like to be informed by PM please, because as of tomorrow, this topic will be history....

I am all done with the NWN builds... I am not going to bother with PRC builds... exhausted from it. Anyone who wants to save those are welcome to do so.
Anyway, I am not sure about ECB on social forums.
I haven't really looked around much in that site as to figure out how to set up forums, etc.. Maybe eventually, but we will see.
I may likely will compile all builds(while eliminating redundant ones) and make it into a compendium "tome" of builds and post it on NWVault. I believe Mith plans on doing one as well for NWN 2 builds.
But, for future builds, perhaps I may at some point do it on social forum, unless someone else hosts the forums somewhere else for the ECB/ECB II's use.
EDIT: Update-Total of 2016 builds collected just for Vanilla NWN... Some of them might be duplicates though.

Update: I will save the PrC after all... I thought there were more than ten pages worth... but when I went to check.. only 2... which is pitiful... I had hoped that there would have been more than that. It's unfortunate that no one has bothered to try using PRC stuff. Possibly due to that not many servers or mods actually uses it.

I am not sure yet. I probably do plan on making some kind of compendium of builds and make it so that all builds are within the user's hand(desktop) and thus making it easy to find builds they want using built in search.
However, this would mean keeping it updated regularly as new builds are introduced... especially with PRC if anyone ever get around to using that, but I suspect that it's unlikely. But I would be glad to be wrong if there's demand for PRC builds. Anyway, something like that I may do eventually when I get time.
