If anyone has a link to a good one, or just some great tips about feats and skills to take for a pure 40 level Bard, that'd be great, just great.

Bards are so diverse that it would be helpful if you provide a little more on what kind of bard you're looking for.

Swashbuckler? (i.e. someone who can hold their own in a fight)
Classic? (to me, though this is open to interpretation, this would be a great party buffer, but not as successful on his/her own)
Jack of all Trades?

I (and many others) enjoy building Bards, and a 40th level Bard could be interesting. But without more details, not sure we will actually be helping you much.

Also, does it have to be 40 lvls of Bard? Would a 38/1/1 type build be alright? It will be a Bard that is exclusive to a party, for buffing only, very little fighting.

38/1/1 might not be out of the question if it were to help him stay alive and help with the buffs. This is what I would do. Hopefully others will give you some feedback as well.

Starting Stats
STR 12
DEX 15
CON 12
INT 14
WIS 8
CHA 15
4, 24, 28, 32, 36 --> DEX
8, 12, 16, 20, 40 --> CHA

Level Progression:
Paladin 1 (if you don't mind alignment change, save bonus from CHA is too nice to pass up)
Bard 1-38
Cleric 1 (or Fighter 1)
OR
You can go Bard 40. The saves and added buffs/turn undead ability are very nice adds to a pure Bard to me.

Feats:
1) Artist; Toughness
3) Point-Blank Shot (or Weapon Finesse if going melee)
6) Extra Music
9) Lingering Song
12) Weapon Focus: Longbow (Rapier if you went Wpn Finesse)
15) Skill Focus: Perform
18) Extend Spell
21) Curse Song
24) Lasting Inspiration; Great DEX 1
27) Epic Weapon Focus: <as above>; Great DEX 2
30) Epic Skill Focus: Perform; Great DEX 3
33) Great DEX 4 & 5
36) Great DEX 6 & 7
39) Epic Skill Focus: Taunt; Great DEX 8
40) If Cleric: Domains Healing & Sun or Healing & Animal.
If Fighter: Whatever you want.

Final STATs:
STR 12
DEX 28
CON 12
INT 14
WIS 8
CHA 20

Skills (should turn out at ~ 299 pts):
Discipline 43 (45)
Perform 43 (63)
Tumble 41 (50)
Taunt 43 (58)
UMD 43 (48)
Spellcraft 43 (45)
Concentration 43 (44)

Spells
1: Balgarn's Iron Horn; Mage Armor; Expeditious Retreat; Cure Light Wounds; Summon I.
2: Cat's Grace; Eagle's Splendour; See Invisible; Bull's Strength; Clarity.
3: Greater Magic Weapon; Haste; Keen Edge; Magic Circle vs. Alignment; Wounding Whispers.
4: Improved Invisibility; War Cry; Cure Critical Wounds; Summon IV; Dismissal.
5: Ethereal Visage; Mind Fog; Summon V; Greater Dispel.
6: Energy Buffer; Ice Storm; Dirge; Mass Haste.

You'll have to do these how you want. Extend works well with your buffs like Haste and damage powers like Wounding Whispers (which at 38 does 1d6 + 38 per round).

Also remember to use both your buffs and your debuffs like Curse Song, Taunt, Dirge, and Bestow Curse. Those alone will push you over the cap by 15 on To-Hit, etc.

Not pure role-playing, but that gives you the best party buffer I can think of.

Hope that helps. I love Bards, especially in a party setting.

Level Progression:
Paladin 1 (if you don't mind alignment change, save bonus from CHA is too nice to pass up)

You would have to change your alignment twice - paladins canīt start with WIS 8 only and paladins canīt take the artist feat.

Good point. I haven't run this through any leveller, so missed that.

I would skip the Pally and Cleric level then. Too much work for what you're looking for. Just go Bard 40. Hey, fellas. I sure do appreciate the info, thanks a bunch. Oh, another question.

Does Charisma bonus affect the Curse and Bard song at all? Like duration, power, etc? I guess it affects it the same as it affects the bardsong. Cha modifier gets added to your perform skill so... Your curse song uses to be the same as your bardsong, (Unless you dont have enough perform for the bardsong for your level, by playing it you will raise your skills, and sometimes be able to have a more potent curse song than bardsong because that skill boost makes you reach the needed perform skill for a higher song.
