Im playing on a high magic PW and Im tempted to try a rogue like character with a huge sneaks attack ability. I never played such a character and I know most build focus on taking SD for the HIPS ability. The thing is many monster have true seeing on the server so Im wondering what might be the best build to fully take advantage of the rogue ability without using HIPS. Thx

"Y'a pire que ne pas pouvoir, y'a savoir qu'on peut et ne jamais tenter" knockdown and improved knockdown come to mind. when the target is prone, you get to sneak attack. this is a great way to generate sneak attacks for rogues. i would recommend adding in some fighter/CoT levels for the added feats and higher AB. If you are dual wielding you can get 6 attacks per round without haste, which when coupled with IKD gets you a whole lot of damage quickly. just an idea though, there are many ways to go about it. 6 levels of monk and using (dual) kamas is another good idea. hope that helps.

"Do not meddle in the affairs of Wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger." Strength based Monk6, ranger10, rogue24 for a high ab, sneak attack, favored enemy, hide/movesilent boosting spells and a pet to help catch them flat footed while dual-wielding kamas 10 attacks hasted/flurried. There are lots of ways to get sneak attacks:

- Having your target distracted with a henchman, party partner, summon.
- Disabling your target (stun, paralyze, confuse, I wonder if making them blind works too).
- Knocking down your target.

- Using Darkness + Ultravision (if they dont have true seeing, of course).
- From hiding.

If the creatures have true seeing you can discard hiding and darkness.

Rogue(27)/Fighter(6)/Monk(6) - 1 more AB, 9 unhasted attacks per round and 6 added damage per hit.

Rogue(33)/monk(6)/assassin(1) - 4d6 better sneak attack damage (3d6 from rogue and 1d6 from assassin) but 1 less attack/round and 1 less AB.

Dex based dualwielding kamas with Improved Knockdown, Stun Traps (Do they exist?), high UMD (so you can summon things from scrolls or even use disabling or buffing spells) could be very good for getting good ways to score a good ammount of sneak attacks without needing to be hidden.

That one does a lot of sneak attack damage in a combat round, but I think this other: (Blood frenzied rogue) can do even more damage (1748 maximum unbuffed damage per round).

Anyway, I think he wants something slighly different

The problem is neither of those builds will do anywhere near that amount of damage though, because the AB is virtually non-existant. That's the problem with builds that try to get the highest X possible. They tend not to be very useful because they give up all else to achieve one goal. It's interesting to see how you can max things out like that, but you'll probably want something with a bit less sneak and a bit more ability to make contact when you actually play it.

Steve Try This

Relatively new build but I still like it a lot though don't tell the author
