need advice building a high dex rogue/wiz/sd capable of
epic dodge
i play in a medium to high magic world and dont have much idea on how to go on so i thought i would try a wiz thats a bit different
this is the criteria for the build :-

race - Elf
dex - 19 end 26? dont know how high to take this
int - 16 end ??
umd - 40+

no shield available so dual wieding rapiers with weapon finesse (short swords hard to come by)
maybe 13 rogue/26 wizard/1 shadow dancer
was thinking 12 lvls rogue then wizard to mid thirties
then taking last rogue and sd
i know this will leave epic dodge till the end but didnt want any xp penalties (and need to top up UMD)
or should i go 14 rogue/25 wiz/1 sd to get epic dodge pre epic?
is 1 level shadow dancer viable?
need advice on wizard school to focus in and wizard feats to take as well

thanks for your time

You know, it's Epic Dodge not for fun, but because it's an epic feat and as such cannot be gotten in pre-epic

you see that just proves my point on how much help i need Fair enough.

Could you perhaps give a list of what you'd like to have? For example,

stuff like that As detailed as you can go, please.

Also, are there any restrictions (on multiclassing, rest or so) in where you'll be playing this? It would be nice to know. As well as spell changes, or anything that will change the way any of these classes work.

EDIT: my signatures fail

Elf has favored class wizard. SD is prestige class, it doesn't count towards xp penalty. You can go ROG/WIZ/SD without fear of xp-penalty with elf, gnome, halfling, human and half-elf.

Check out my galdring pukje Click Here , it is somewhat close to what you want, but it is a gnome, and dual-wielding was way to expensive for me. Change to elf and trade to what feats you want.

im going for dual wielding rapiers(ambidex,2wf,i2wf)
with epic dodge to at least lvl 26
40+ UMD
i can get INT up to mid 20's would you suggest boosting dex more or leaving it at 26 and putting it all into INT

epic warding i want (is epic mage armour of any use?)
focusing in evocation/enchanment

going 12 rogue 1 shadowdancer and 7 wiz pre epic

as you can see im not to good at this so any pointers would be a great help

Not sure I understand you here: are you saying you want EPic Dodge by level 26 at the latest?

Quote: 40+ UMD

Shouldn't be a problem with this.

Quote: i can get INT up to mid 20's would you suggest boosting dex more or leaving it at 26 and putting it all into INT

Depends how you want to play your character. Are you looking for basically a sneaking melee type with spells to buff and help out offensively, or a caster that has some capability of sneak attacking at need?

Quote: epic warding i want (is epic mage armour of any use?)

Epic Warding is going to require at least 21 WIZ levels. As for Epic Mage Armor, it depends on the gear you have available. You get +5 AC over four different AC types (+5 Dodge, +5 Armor, +5 Deflection, and +5 Natural? - not sure of the last type) Since Dodge is the only one that stacks, if you have +5 items that give you the other types, EMA may not be worth the investment.

Quote: focusing in evocation/enchanment

This means 6 feats (4 pre-epic and 2 epic) is you want Epic Spell Focus in both. Again, if you going with the character as mainly a caster (i.e. focussing on INT as much as possible), it may be worth the investment. If not, itmay be a waste of feats.

Quote: going 12 rogue 1 shadowdancer and 7 wiz pre epic

This is not optimal for your BAB. This distribution will result in a BAB of +12. If you go with Rogue 12/SD 4/WIZ 4, you'll have a BAB of +14. Much better if you plan on being a sneaky melee type.

If you're going to the caster with a bit of sneak capability, then the R 12/SD 1/WIZ 7 should be fine.

Quote: as you can see im not to good at this so any pointers would be a great help

No problem. It takes some practice to balance your wants and needs with what must be sacrificed. Just keep asking questions and posting information on what you want and I'm sure you'll end up with something to your liking.

Wave upon wave of demented avengers marched cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream... I can tell you this. If you want focus in Rapiers,1 feat, dual-wielding(3 feats) and spell focus 2 schools (4 feats) pre-epic, you need at least 5 wizard to even have enough feats for those. But to get SD you need Dodge and mobility to. SO, to get all those feats pre epic you need 15 wizard. Good luck getting epic dodge by lvl 26, or even have decent AB. Max BAB by lvl 20 will be 11 or 12. You have to give up on something. Or take pre epic feats epic.
