Hey all,

I've searched for this combo, and I see very similar builds that are Rogue 20-something/RDD 10/Bard Left-overs.

I like this class combo, there is great synergy in terms of skills, and especially with Imp. Knockdown followed by Sneak Attacks aplenty.

What I'm curious about, though, is the lack of builds that stress more of the Bard class (for buffs, song, etc.). Is it just a weaker combination with more Bard levels as compared to Rogue levels?

Also, thoughts on taking enough DEX for Ambi-TWF-ITWF, then STR for dmg/AB?

Thanks. For what do you want the Rogue levels, exactly?

And RDD? Sorry, but you should really explain what you want to have. If you want skills and sneaks, make a Rogue/FTR/CoT.

I might have a cheesy mind, but I believe there's one reason only to want RDD in a build If you want to use two weapons, go with 10 Ranger levels (9 ITWF, 10 another Favored enemy and +2 against them, or all the way 21 for BoE), add Rogue at taste, mix and serve. I don't see a lot of Assassins around, but it can help, gives Improved Invisisbility and a sneak that stuns, you can take Assassin instead of Rogue (or both, and take Improved Evasion and/or Crippling Strike). This would be a DEX build though, as heavy armor would take off the benefits... Well, you could build a Rogue 13/Bard 17/RDD 10. Gets a good Bard song/curse song, all Bard spells, pretty good skillset, decent Str, 7d6 sneaks.

Here's a first shot at it:
Rogue(13), Bard(17), Red Dragon Disciple(10), Human
STR: 15 (36)
DEX: 14
CON: 14 (16)
WIS: 8
INT: 12 (14)
CHA: 14 (16)

Hitpoints: 424
Skillpoints: 321
Saving Throws (Fortitude/Will/Reflex): 22/22/24
Saving Throw bonuses: Spells: +9, Traps: +2
BAB: 25
AB (max, naked): 42 (melee), 28 (ranged)
AC (naked/mundane armor/shield only): 26/34

Disable Trap 34(38), Hide 43(45), Lore 8(27), Move Silently 43(45), Perform 32(35), Set Trap 41(45), Spellcraft 43(45), Tumble 40(42), UMD 37(40)

01: Ro(1): Toughness, Blind Fight
02: Ro(2): {Evasion}
03: Ba(1): Lingering Song
04: Ba(2): STR+1, (STR=16)
05: Ba(3)
06: RDD(1): Weapon Focus: Rapier
07: RDD(2): (STR=18)
08: RDD(3): STR+1, (STR=19)
09: Ba(4): Curse Song
10: RDD(4): (STR=21)
11: RDD(5)
12: Ro(3): STR+1, Extend Spell, {Uncanny Dodge I}, (STR=22)
13: RDD(6)
14: RDD(7): (CON=16)
15: RDD(8): Improved Critical: Rapier
16: Ro(4): STR+1, (STR=23)
17: Ba(5)
18: Ba(6): Knockdown
19: Ba(7)
20: Ba(8): STR+1, (STR=24)
21: RDD(9): Epic Weapon Focus: Rapier, (INT=14)
22: RDD(10): {Darkvision}, (STR=28), (CHA=16)
23: Ro(5)
24: Ro(6): STR+1, Epic Prowess, (STR=29)
25: Ba(9)
26: Ba(10)
27: Ba(11): Armor Skin
28: Ba(12): STR+1, (STR=30)
29: Ba(13)
30: Ba(14): Great Strength I, (STR=31)
31: Ba(15)
32: Ba(16): STR+1, (STR=32)
33: Ro(7): Great Strength II, (STR=33)
34: Ro(8)
35: Ro(9)
36: Ro(10): STR+1, Great Strength III, Crippling Strike, (STR=35)
37: Ro(11)
38: Ro(12)
39: Ro(13): Improved Evasion, General Feat of your choice
40: Ba(17): STR+1, (STR=36)

The main problem is he matures fairly late. Ends up pretty decent, though. Nice damage output, especially with KD and sneaks thrown in.

Well yes, but saying he wanted "skills and sneak attacks," Rogue/Bard/RDD doesn't seem the best option. That is, of course, IMHO & YMMV. I'd search the index for Rogue/Fighter/Champion of Torm [ = Moradin ] builds. However, if he really wants the Bard Song, he could go with Rogue/Bard/Fighter and probably be more effective that way -- especially if dual-wielding (the reason being +8 STR adds +4 damage to main hand/+2 damage to off hand, and +4 AB to both, whereas EWS adds +6 damage to both and Fighter gets better BAB to gain back at least some of the lost AB). But yes, if Rogue/Bard/RDD is what you want, then go for it I'm just checking to see if you really know what you want

I was trying to think of a somewhat unique character concept, and noticed that this combination was in scarce supply... probably for a reason.

Thanks all for your feedback. The first character I've played through HotU was a rogue/bard/RDD. It wasn't really a 'designed' character (took exotic weapon prof. when I found a good katana in SoU, took weapon finesse when I found lots of dex enhancing items in hotu and switched back to bastard sword when the RDD levels kicked in) but nevertheless it was a very powerful char. Ended up with 4 RDD levels at the end of HotU. Definitely a nice char with lots of possibilities.
