just a quick general question. if i'm messing up a perfectly good build ('customizing'), and i take out a couple of Self Concealment feats... is it still worth it to get I, II, III? or is it really only good if you go all the way to V?
actually, i know self-concealment gives you some kinda chance not to be hit, but not the specific terms/stats for it. can someone tell me the SC % vs miss chance or whatever it affects, please?
thanks!
Every Self Concealment feat gives 10% natural Conealment, to a max of SCV where it's 50%
Concealment is like a dodge, whenever a melee or a ranged attacks a target with Concealment, the percentage of Concealment will count, if you get the "roll" you get concealed, which means the attack automatically misses, no matter even if it's a critical hit, it will miss. on clear terms: A 50% Concealment means half the attacks made on you miss automatically, which is awesome, it just doesn't works on spells.
Blind-Fight taken by the attacker reduces the Concealment effect by 50%, so a Concealment of 50% will really work only in 25% against anyone who has Blind-Fight (hence why it's a very important feat).

I never bother to get anything lower than SC IV and that's just if I really can't get me hands on SC V. The feat investment isn't worth the result, ED and high AC are already a big protection. Besides you can cast II from scrolls if you have got UMD.

heyas;
thanks guys! um... ii? oh, improved invisibility?
how does improved invisibility and/or ghostly visage compare to self concealment stuff? obviously, i guess self concealment is permanently on, for one thing. but in terms of the actual concealment/miss percentages?
Imp Invis is exactly the same: 50% concealment.
Ghostly Visage gives you 10% concealment, 5/+1 DR, and immunity to level 1 and lower spells. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
See invisibility negates the 50% from II doesn't it?
No. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
Neither does True Sight, one thing is seeing the enemy and another is dispelling its effects but I'f I'm correct, Invisibility Purge does dispel all Invisibility effects such as Concealment, as well as Dispel or Mords.
Aye, I believe you're correct on that, Thax. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
Blind-Fight doesn't halve concealment, it lets you re-roll your miss chance. Hence the effective concealment is squared. I.e: Concealment w/o B-F Concealment w B-F 10% -> 1% 20% -> 4% 30% -> 9% 40% -> 16% 50% -> 25% The concealment is only halved for 50%. This also illustrates why 30% concealment would be useless against someone with B-F. _________________ Two wrongs don't make a right but three lefts do.
