hey all, looking for a good golem build. A druid/shifter with construct shape that is. Obviously i will add monk lvls for the real cheese, but i am not totally sure on how to build it and which feats to use.
Thanks in advance _________________ Everything`s been done, everything`s been said so why bother
Construct Shape isn't built for too often because the wisdom requirement is so close to the dragon shape wisdom requirement, but the stats of the dragon shapes are significantly superior.
There is really no point in reinventing the wheel, so just find a dragon shape build you like with the search engine, then tweak it to exchange Dragon Shape for Construct Shape. _________________ (I enjoy writing parenthetically (a lot)).
Constructs are immune to a fair number of things, though... More importantly, Dex and Con don't change.

dragon shape is so lame...
construct is alot more fun... but I dont have any builds. sry.
Well I love playing shifters, I have a few golem builds kicking around, but I will make a few suggestions first.
Constructs (as you have said) offer many immunities that are yummy. Some Monk feats offer simular protections (mind affecting saves) but not as nice. Undead shape also offers those protections but you also risk getting turned. Here is what I suggest. Don't use Monk as your default third class selection. Shocking as it may be, there are other class combinations that offer up real nice abilities when combined with a big Iron Golem form.
I would suggest Assasin.
- 0 XP PENALTY. - Sneak Damage for an extra hard punch. - Assasin spells can be used while shifted in Golem form. - Slap IKD into your build and you will have one mean punching Golem that can do 100+ damage per hit. - Some servers allow Assasins to get HIPs at lvl 8. - A sneak build Iron Golem is possible. You won't get astronomical hide & ms skill ranks, but it should still be enough.
Dex and Con do not get overwritten when shifted into golem form.
As with any unarmed shifter shape, avoid any weapon focus feats. Improved Crit UA does work, and so does Overwhelming Crit UA. As an Iron Golem you will be weak vs fire. So make sure to take at least two epic fire resistances. Don't overdue it on Shifter Levels since your Golem abilities (other than Stone Golem Hurled Rocks) do not change with more Shifter levels.
Depending on play style, you could have a 5/10/25 split for Dr/Sh/As levels. I would suggest a few more Druid levels for buffing spells. If you preffer to punch as hard as you can, then go heavy on Assasin and get IKD. 25 Assasin get's 13d6 (without any Extra Sneak Attack Feats).
13-78 sneak, 2d10 fist damage +17 for str damage (33 base + 12 = 45 max str)
potential *2 for a Crit.
min sneak damage = 32 (13+2+17) min sneak crit damage 53 (2+17)*2+13 min no sneak damage = 19 min no sneak crit damage = 38 (2+17)*2
max sneak = 115 (78+20+17) max sneak crit = 152 (20+17)*2+78 max no sneak = 37 (20 + 17) max no sneak crit = 74 (20 + 17)*2
You will be attacking as a +4 weapon in terms of bypassing DR on your opponent.
So as you see, having IKD on your Assasin Golem is very handy. 32-115 sneak damage or 53-152 crit sneak PER HIT!
As a non Monk Golem, you will be SLOW. Hide and sneak up is your best tactic if you don't have speed. You will also not have Discipline as a class skill. That will hurt, so you will need to take ESF Disc later in life if you can.
Here's what I came up with.
I chose Gnome because of the +2 con, -2 str. Needed as much Wis up from to get Construct shape early, needed 13 Int for IKD, needed some HPs, and Dex too.
Took 2 more Druid levels later in life because of the spellcraft point dump and lvl 4 spells (stoneskin, freedom).
Golem stats will buff your Disp another (about) 15 points.
I would suggest using a form that overrides STR during your level up process. Leveling Up will be hard to do. Lizard or Drow would be best.
