Considering the fun I had getting feedback in my Grizzled Dwarflord Challenge, I have another idea... Sticking to the idea of Dwarven builds and knowing that the Build Search Engine does not do searches by race. Let's give this a try.
What I'd like to see is those who have done Dwarven Character Builds they are particularily proud of have a chance to showcase them.
What is your best dwarven build? All classes considered. Best meaning most versatility? Toughest Wall? Best Dwarven Spell caster? Monk? Rogue? Warrior type? Let's consider them all and celebrate our ale guzzling friend, THE DWARF. _________________ The secret to eternal youth is simply in your imagination.
Versatile Dwarven Wall ? ... I like it

Here are some from my stable:
Adaptable Adventurer. A really fun build to play (if a bit tricky). If your playing environment hasn't got a lot of dispel spamming in it, this character rocks. If there's a lot of dispelling going on... not so much.
Clangeddin's Wrath. You're familiar with this guy. A fun self buffing warrior/cleric.
Dwarven Hammersong. A decent melee character with some UMD tricks up his sleeve.
Dwarven Sellsword. One of a couple FTR/Rogue/CoT variants I often use to explore new servers/large modules.
Dwarven Spellsword. Not the traditional spellsword in that he only has 10 WIZ levels, but he's a pretty decent melee character with some magic to help himself out.
Eldritch Guardian of the Clanhold. A WIZ-heavy build, with the idea of being able to do the melee mage routine as well. I played this template through the Runes of Blood module. Worked out very well.
Eldritch Warrior. A more traditional spellsword build.
Favored of Moradin. If you're playing with autofail on 1 turned off, you'll basically never fail a save with this guy. Crazy high saves. I played this one through the Tomb of Horrors module. He ate it up and spit it out. Very effective build.
Harper's Vengeance. One of my Harper builds (I went through a HS phase for a while and pumped out a number of builds that use it). He's got high AB with two weapons (taking advantage of different damage types).
Ossified Tank. A crit/sneak immune melee character with lots of HPs and DR. Yummy.
Stalwart Warrior. An experiment in massive CON, using the WM levels to augment AB.
The Dualist. Again, a character that uses two different weapons, but he dual wields. The build was inspired by the story idea.
The Hatchet. An Assassin build with some WIZ levels to help him out. Like the Adaptable Adventurer, he's best suited to an environment where he's not being spammed by dispels, but he can still do just fine even then.
The Mystic Wall. A build and story that was inspired by the name 'Spellbeard', coined by Grizzled_Dwarflord. Some mage, some DwD, a decent melee character.
The Resistor. Similar in concept to anoter build of mine (Master of resistance), this one hsa DR as well as resistance toa number of elemental attacks. A fairly solid meatshield/warrior.
The Rock Warden. The story was torture to write (it just didn't want to come out for me), but I had a vision in my head of this character and needed to have a story to go with him. Just a straight-forward melee character.
My favorite? Hard to pick one, but I'm fairly partial to the Dualist and the Favored of Moradin. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
Well, here's my recervoir of dwarves, hope you like it:
These are the results of when I tried to make spellsword dwarven defender builds Amshel Kerak: The Smart [Fighter 8 / Wizard 18 / Dwarven Defender 14] Van Kerak: The Wild [Ranger 9 / Wizard 17 / Dwarven Defender 14]
This one's not really good for solo, it's just a tank I made to RP as a wall that kills enemies without touching them Arcane Wall V2 (Wizard 22 / Dwarven Defender 18)
Out of no real reason this build ended with dwarf as race, even though it's kind of a heavy caster Arcane Knight of Lathander (Fighter 6 / Cleric 16 / Wizard 18)
I made this build trying to make high damage critical hits Lord Firescythe (Fighter 14/ Cleric 19 / Weapon Master 7)
For those who can make alignment shifts Terrifying Tank (Barbarian 16 / Fighter 6 / Dwarven Defender 18)
You already saw these but here they go again, I'm proud of these builds, they ended up pretty strong: Dwarven Abomination (Cleric 17 / Fighter 1 / Dwarven Defender 22) Lethal Kama (Cleric 20 / Dwarven Defender 18 / Monk 2)
And this is simple a Dwarven Defender with Bane of Enemies Woodland Dwarf (Ranger 22 / Fighter 4 / Dwarven Defender 14) _________________ "My name is Thaxll'ssyllia, but you simians may refer to me merely as "Sir", if you prefer a less... syllable intensive workout."

This is awesome, thank you very much everyone... I'm glad to see all the activity and all the cool builds. I wanted to do this thread to get some of these back out here to be seen like they should be.
Keep them coming, dwarves are having their day!! *hands out mugs of ale* _________________ The secret to eternal youth is simply in your imagination.
If you like playing fighter types, Feat Master may be for you. I still make most of my fighter types along these lines with non combat feats in the general featslots for better saves etc.
Wow Mick, that's alot of feats... _________________ The secret to eternal youth is simply in your imagination.
Pound for pound, one of the toughest dwarves I've ever played was the Myrmidon Eternal. With base AC of 40 in mundane plate, UMD, immunities and resistances, he was a juggernaut.
Another excellent dwarven warrior type was The Citadel. Imagine the Hearth Guard, now give him UMD, Tumble and Evasion and the rest of the Rogue skill set, along with the 700 hp and 27 DR. Energizer bunny. _________________ Got Hommlet? World of Greyhawk Action Server (with 1/2 price ales on Mondays!)

Yeah, really. I thought he had hung up his sword and helm on the wall and was enjoying retirement. Nice to see him here, again. _________________ Got Hommlet? World of Greyhawk Action Server (with 1/2 price ales on Mondays!)

Thanks both.
An old warrior isn't so easily defeated, I'm still around. I'm away for periods of time, but never completely lost. I'm even playing NwN and Nwn2 both these days. _________________ We are sons of Odin, and the fire that we burn inside is the legacy of warrior-kings who reign above in the sky I will lead the charge, my sword into the wind Sons of Odin fights to die and live again
Acckkkk NWN 2, did it ever get any better? I remember odd visions of a horrifying inventory system. Haven't been back since. Maybe I didn't waste my money on it? Did they fix stuff? hehe... inquiring minds want to know... _________________ The secret to eternal youth is simply in your imagination.

Pish tosh. We should now turn our attention to those dastardly devices that actually TIE one's body to the vehicle. No thank you, I prefer to have inertia throw my body clear of an accident, kindly.
The inventory system still uses one square per icon (which I like - I hate inventory tetris), but it seems to me they're much easier to differentiate than they were. Maybe I'm just getting used to them
The engine also seems to be much more optimized now and the game runs much smoother.
Lots of bug and game fixes and tweaks.
New camera controls, which are easily toggled from the main screen.
I just picked up the latest expansion (SoZ), and to be honest I'm liking the game so much that I can't really see me spending my now-limited playing time on much of anything else right now.
I never really understood the hatred and vitriol heaped onto NWN2 in the first place. I mean, both NWN games are good games. Maybe my expectations aren't the same as most other people, or maybe my standards aren't as high as others', maybe it's because I just don't play on-line as much as I used to and haven't tried any NWN2 on-line play yet, and maybe it's because I don't mod (but this latest NWN2 expansion has me thinking I might look at it for NWN2), but I like both games very much and I personally think NWN2 is great in its own right. _________________ It's rogue, dammit, ROGUE!!!
The SoZ campaign seem very good, I like the dialog system very much. There are a few problems with the party controls still, but the AI has improved quite a lot. MotB was probably the worst single player camapign I have ever tried, but this one's better. And I can't wait to see what the best modders out there can do with it. I still play some witcher too, I'm splitting my little time between these two. And, as Cinn says, it runs way smoother than it did when it first came along. _________________ We are sons of Odin, and the fire that we burn inside is the legacy of warrior-kings who reign above in the sky I will lead the charge, my sword into the wind Sons of Odin fights to die and live again
That's good to know. Thanks guys. Then I will see about getting a better card for my wife's computer so we can both try it. I play NWN still because of the builders and what they have done. It still seems the most customizable of the games. Some of the newer tile sets and things have NWN looking more like NWN2. If you haven't seen this I suggest you explore the servers a bit and find one that is using the new hak paks for the impressive graphics.
Best thing about this, is if you are still not quite ready for the resource sucking spiff graphics you can still hit the servers that are just plain good classic ones, even they have cool surprises for you.
Some of the most creative scripters and builders were cooked up in NWN, I believe this sincerely. _________________ The secret to eternal youth is simply in your imagination.
